my lovely co-worker has been collecting these little altoid tins for me for awhile so i spent some time last week modgepodgin and filling them up - just small things to make someone smile. this one is for a budding astronomer:

i was seeing these recycled t-shirt scarves popping up everywhere after my friend melissa told me about them so i decided to make some my self! there a bunch of easy tutorials floating around and i'm sure a lot of people here have been making them, too, but here are mine!

ever since i read "making your own misfits" i've been trying to make my own lil creatures. petey is my least creepy, most succesful lil buddy to date. he is an awkward (drunken? asked my girlfriend. he just has a lopsided body!) lil owl. thoughts? what is another easy animal to make?

thanks to the sever lovely craftsters who posted easy crayonwallartmakin tutorials i did this one in a half hour the other night. there's some much nicer ones out there but i do dig the explosive quality.

this year i decided i wanted a project to help me get back in touch with old friends, keep in touch with current loves, and create small works of art regularly. i have always loved sending and receiving mail so i decided i would send a postcard every day this year. on sunday nights i make seven cards and then i send them out one a day. i've been recycling different books but this week i wanted to celebrate autumn and use the leaves i've been collecting so i made these cards. i pressed the leaves in books and used packaging tape to preserve and fix them to card stock that i had written on with my smithcorona.  

thoughts? ideas for what i should use next? a year is a long time...

at our new house the bathroom is big and beautiful and the door is all glass paneling which is nice but revealing. i wanted to put up something but not curtains because the house is already very dark so i sewed these strings of hearts on my sewing machine and hung them up! if you have really good eyesight you can learn a little about science from some of the hearts! thoughts?

crazed-cat-monster-friend-hat. i wanted to make just a regular cute cat hat but i couldn't get the ears to even out so i added creepy eyes and a mustache - few could pull it off but it fits sindbad and he wears it despite the odd looks from passers by (what a true friend!)

i've been making a lot of sweater hats lately. hunting in the village thrift for the best, brightest and ugliest. i've seen some beautiful ones posted by other craftsters and wanted to post my own. i've been doing a one seam action that while it saves time does sometimes result in a bumpy look but it's so fast and easy! i recently made 4 in an hour for a spontaneous hat day celebration that took place in the living room. here's my first hat - the blue one followed by a crazed cat monster hat sported by a crazed boy named sindbad and then two shark hats i made for a shark party.

here's to halloween dino-hoodies! i made these up after looking at a few links on here and a tut for making them for little kids. i cut out the spikes and stuffed them then sewed them on to the inside out sweatshirt. the spikes and tails are made from an old curtain and the hoodies were thrifted for a few bucks so a very cheap and fun costume. my favorite part of mine (the blue one) is my spiked tail. my students thought i was a fish but in fact i was a dinosaur. and my girlfriend in the green-dino-costume has to be one of the cutest dinosaurs i ever met.
