Ha! That reminds me, my husband's family has a dining table that was originally a giant spool like that. It's at least five feet diameter, and I think they found it at some construction project. They just tipped it over and rolled it home!
Sent my questionnaire in; I hope I made it! All this talk of wooden spools makes me think I should try to find some. There's a big building around here that's something of an antique flea market; I could probably find some in there!
I went to Target to get my can, but they were completely out of plain old Original Pringles! So I'm taking that as a sign to sit this one out. (There are *so many* swaps that I am interested in right now!)
Oh, I think I might have spun on mine last weekend at MDSW! I always keep an eye out for right-flyer saxonies, because they're so rare and I know I'd need a right one as I already twist that way sometimes on upright/castle wheels. Carolina Homespun had a 30" right flyer Schacht-Reeves (which, incidentally, is also one of my friends' dream wheels), so I finally got to try a right flyer saxony and it was wonderful... (my husband agreed too!) But it's *the* most expensive of the major wheels. (Lendrum also makes a right-side flyer saxony, but has a years long waiting list, and I can't justify a custom wheel yet, though I could probably get one for about the same price as a Schacht-Reeves.)
