11  Giant twin zip pencil case in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by Jillinamillion on: February 06, 2012 01:21:50 PM
I found this octopus material in the remnant section in a local store and had to buy it!
I ended up making a new pencil case for my daughter with it - and it's very much appreciated!

I posted a tutorial on how I made it that I reckon anyone could sew in just 5 steps and 15 minutes!

12  Shiny clutch from car windscreen shade in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by Jillinamillion on: January 23, 2012 02:54:27 PM
I did a few projects with old car windscreen shades last year. This is my first for this year with a nice shiny red shade my parents left behind after their last visit and hire car!!

I like sewing with this stuff as it holds it's shape being nice and thick!

I did a quick tutorial here too:http://jembellish.blogspot.com/2012/01/shiny-clutch-tutorial-5-steps-in-15.html

13  Pot holders from jeans pockets in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by Jillinamillion on: January 09, 2012 02:55:22 PM
I saw some of these at a friends house a while ago and loved the idea! So when I found jeans for 50c a pair in the local charity shop I knew I had to make some of my own!  I just cut off the pockets from the jeans - and added pretty fabric with a layer of fleece in the middle which I quilted together.  Then stitched it all together and added some quick binding! Nice simple project!

I posted a tutorial here:  http://jembellish.blogspot.com/2012/01/pot-holders-from-jeans-pockets-tutorial.html

14  Smart Tablet Cover in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by Jillinamillion on: January 03, 2012 04:30:07 PM
My husband got a tablet for Christmas - and actually let me make a case for it! (he's not a big fan of handmade things) but I promised to use very plain material and he actually likes it!!! (sorry for the not very exciting picture - I usually like bright colourful fabrics!)

Super simple to make - tutorial posted here: http://jembellish.blogspot.com/2012/01/smart-and-simple-tablet-cover-tutorial.html

15  Christmas banner in Winter Holidays by Jillinamillion on: December 06, 2011 02:10:03 PM
I'm trying to make more of my decorations this year - particularly for outside (Christmas is in summer here in Cairns) - and ones that are more durable than card or paper!
Here's a banner I stitched:

and wrote a simple tute here:  http://jembellish.blogspot.com/2011/12/christmas-banner-tutorial.html

I keep ALL my scraps from sewing - and my collection is getting rather large - so I decided to try to start using them up!
Here's what I made with some:

The straps and the lining are also made from scrap patchwork!

17  Upcycled Advent Calendar in Winter Holidays by Jillinamillion on: November 04, 2011 01:39:56 PM
I've spent a lot of this year upcycling clothes into various things - and it seemed fitting to continue this theme into Christmas.
So-  my latest project is an Advent calendar made from old clothes!

I made this:

From these:

I'm still working on the ornaments to hang on all the little buttons. One down - 23 more to go!
I posted a tutorial on how I made the calendar here..
http://jembellish.blogspot.com/2011/11/upcycled-advent-calendar-tutorial.html

And will post about the ornaments as I make them!

19  Halloween Drinks Coasters in Halloween Decor and Parties by Jillinamillion on: October 03, 2011 03:58:15 PM
A while ago I made some talking coasters - so thought I'd use the idea again for some fun Halloween coasters:

They have halloween silhouettes on one side - and halloween jokes on the other side!

I posted a tutorial here:
