14  KNITTING / Knitalongs / Re: "Tempting" knitalong - Winter Knitty on: September 10, 2005 10:11:30 PM
i wasn't happy w/ how my ribbed swatch turned out, so i'm not doing it right now. since i'm on a yarn diet i can't go buy more yarn but  have some Cotton Ease that might work. I think I've heard of this sweater done in this. anyhoo, i have to make a Paris Loop by next Sat for a girlfriend's b-day and I haven't even cast on yet  Undecided  so i better get knitting rather than crafster surfing!!   see yall later. Steph, hope everything's OK w/ the storm!!

dang, gracie, that sounds serious losing part of your roof!!  it sounds like you're still at home, not in a shelter or something.  Undecided
i have yet to cast on but i just retrieved the yarn from the basement stash, now i just need to find the right sized circular needle.   i am excited about this sweater. i totally needed the motivation of a KAL to get going.  i'm hoping this Kool Wool will work...

thanks to graciepetunia PMing me (we were swap partners a few months ago) I'm gonna cast on tonight.  I've got about 10 balls of  Lionsbrand Kool Wool (may be discontinued, got it on clearance at JoAnns) which is a soft merino/acrylic chunky (size 10.5 needles)... has anyone used a chunkier yarn for this? if so, how'd it work?  also, has anyone made a long sleeve version of this? that's what i'm planning right now provided i have enough yarn.

knit on!!

thanks! i'm adding that to my list of stuff to buy at the fabric store.

that shrinky dink skelly came out really nice! after I saw it, i poked around on craftster looking for shrinky dink info.  i assume you can buy the regular paper at Michael's or Joann's (or other craft store). does anyone know if you can get the printer paper there too? i found a link to order it.   the only shrinky dink stuff i have at home is my daughter's Care Bear stuff which i've been forbidden to touch...

it's totally cute and retro looking!   great idea to use a transfer pen on a bag since supposedly those pens aren't as permanent as you'd like (i think someone mentioned that in the original thread about transfer pens) and hopefully you won't have to wash it much. .... i'm putting transfer pens on my list for the Joann's Fabric sale coming up...
