1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Shift to Shirt on: January 12, 2012 08:05:40 PM
This is my first "official" refashion  Smiley

I started with a simple thrifted shift made out of a polyester knit blend.  The bodice looked good, but it clung to my tummy, so I knew that it had to become a top!  All I really did was remove the pockets, shorten it, sew up the side seams and add a hem.

2  KNITTING / Knitalongs / Knit Sweaters for Oily Penguins on: October 20, 2011 04:08:41 PM
Apparently, penguins wear sweaters!  Penguins who get covered in oil need sweaters to keep them from eating the oil.

Here's a link to the pattern, and where to send the finished penguin sweaters Smiley

3  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / By Kids for Kids Swap on: September 05, 2011 11:30:05 PM
My almost 8 year old daughter caught me making something for a swap and when I explained what I was doing, she got excited and said she wanted to do it too!

I'm still fairly new to Craftster, and maybe I'm not looking in the right place, but I couldn't find any swaps for kids - has anyone done this before?  Can we do it?  We can sign up for our kids so no personal information goes online...
4  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / I think the cat likes my idea... on: June 16, 2011 07:59:18 PM
I'm halfway through reconstructing a top.  Last night I left the pieces out before I went to bed, and today one of the pieces is missing.  The only thing I can think of is that the cat dragged it off somewhere...

I don't have enough material to remake the missing piece and I'm kinda bummed.  If you were a cat, where would you take a piece of material?
5  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Reconstructed T-Shirt Fail on: June 15, 2011 02:35:33 PM
I found this tutorial on transforming a T-Shirt into a one-shouldered ruffle top:  http://www.rufflesandstuff.com/2009/08/one-shouldered-ruffle-top.html  and decided to try it with an old stretched out T-Shirt.

It didn't work out quite right.  It looked fine until I put it on - the neck was huge and baggy.  I'm not going to bother trying to fix it, but I may try this again with a better fitting T-Shirt.

6  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Diagonal Knit Scarf on: June 15, 2011 02:25:35 PM
This pattern is called the "Sweeny Todd" scarf on Ravelry:  http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/sweeney-todd-scarf

I made a bunch of these (with a little help from my friend) and will definately make more.  It was great for learning how to increase/decrease stitches, and I think they're really interesting to look at.  The Ravelry pictures are much better than the one I took.

7  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / First Baby Sweater Ever on: June 15, 2011 02:22:27 PM
I made this sweater for my neice.  It was a lot easier than I thought!  Even got to use stitch holders for the first time.

The pattern is from Ravelry:

8  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / First Post: Snake Scarves! on: June 15, 2011 02:16:02 PM
I made these snake scarves for my kids - they love them!  I'll probably be making for for all the kids in the neighborhood :-)  It was a really easy pattern that I found on Ravelry http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/garter-snake-scarf
