Who else remembers latch hook rugs?  I loved to do them as a kid!  I remember doing a rainbow, a heart, a teddy bear... Well now I am all grown up and needed a more updated image to do.  A friend had given me a rug that she just started and promptly gave up on so I decided to take it apart and make a companion cube!  Hope you like it!

I bought a used Yudu from my friend not really knowing what I was getting myself into.  In typical Joni manner I bought first and then asked questions later!  My friend had unsucessfully put one of the emulsion sheets on the screen, it was flaking off and was un-usable.  So I brought everything home and started to do my homework.  I took silkscreening in college, but that was almost 16 years ago so I had some catching up to do.  The first things I bought were these:

I looked on youtube and saw how to coat my screen.  I coated on both sides.  For my first time around I think I layed it on a little think.  I then burned my screen using the setting on my Yudu machine.

The burned images came out perfect!  I had the transparencies made at Kinkos so it was super cheap.  Next I printed my image.

As you can see I got a little bit of a double image, it's because I ran the squeege over the screen 2 times.  I had forgotten to first flood my screen, on my 2nd attempt (for my CAKE tee-shirt) I did it right and it came out perfect!  Now to start working on some Christmas gifts!

Oh and the emulsion remover that came with the Diazo kit easily removed the Yudu sheet emulsion that my friend had unsuccessfully put on.  I also used Speedball fabric inks which were way cheaper than the tiny little bottles of ink that Yudu sells.
