i'm not a matchy person by nature, plus it's really hard to find sheets with any personality.  we love mismatched stuff!  actually, georgia already has a bunch of craftster pillow cases, which is why i was begging for wiley.  sleeping is so much fun around here.  maybe next i'll need some for me and the husband???

my new jackalope hoop!  it goes oh so perfectly in my shabby faux mythical hunting lodge themed breezeway.  the wood grain background is spot on, and i love the terrifying look in his eye.

6  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Discussion and Questions / advise on what paint to use on an aisle runner on: June 08, 2014 05:57:52 AM
hi everyone,

i'm sure i'm not the only one this happens to . . . i'm not too shabby at painting things and so i keep getting requests for things i've never done before.  such is my current situation.

i've been asked to paint an aisle runner for a wedding.  it will be a large painted peony with monogram over it, in rather specific colors.  totally fine, right?

i'm not sure what paint i should use!  i'm most comfortable with acrylics, but i'm worried that painting a large flower on the fabric will cause problems.  when the paint dries will it shrink up the fabric?  will it cause ripples?  is there another paint i can use?  she said she's used martha stewert paints for other portions, so i know they come in hwe colors - would those be beter to use?  fyi - her mother is making the aisle runner and she wants in in the middle - so failing is out of the question.

i'm just really nervous about it, and i've got so many other commissions that i don't have the spare time to test a bunch of paints or mess this one up.  any and all advise welcome.
7  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: ONGOING ATC SWAP MAY 2014 - Gallery! on: June 02, 2014 07:35:15 AM

Love it! Background is so cool and I would like to know more about it... did you spend hours putting wee paint dots on? I have not heard this Gandhi quote, and so glad to be introduced to it. i very much like how the lettering of each word "describes" the thought.

lol!  the background is (obviously) painted cardstock.  i airbrush, and one of the techniques i use with it is this splatter - basically spraying large drops of paint instead of a fine mist.  done my putting something in front of the airbrush to catch the paint before spraying onto the item.  i spray lots of my own designs Wink

glad you like it.

9  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: ONGOING ATC SWAP MAY 2014 - Gallery! on: May 27, 2014 01:17:46 PM
i know there was a whole month called may, but i sure don't know where it went!

i'm a total slacker about posting pics, so my absolute apologies to everyone who sent to me.  here come some pics . . .

from blupaisan for my aqua, red and lime green theme, but also little houses.  she made me a moon house!  so creative!  and so much detail.  lot's of fun.

from rockingbearranch for my "our lady of guadalupe" theme.  and she sent me feathers Wink  the card was really hard to get a good photo of because it's got a sheen to it, so this was the best of the lot.  she's really quite fabulous, and i've studied her quite a bit.  thanks so much!

from mountains and clouds for my little houses theme.  i'm not sure what technique she used, but i really love it.  i'm a freak for the watercolor feel right now, and that's what it feels like.  it looks fabulous in my living room with teal curtains!

ad mountains and clouds sent me a bonus card, just to make y'all jealous . . .

cute, huh?!?

thanks, everyone!
