21  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Re: Children's book quilt on: May 24, 2007 10:38:08 AM
Oh, thanks so much for the replies!  When you've done something, it's like you're in a blind spot and it's impossible to tell if it's good or bad.  hard to be objective, you know?

From the left to the right starting with the top row (read like a book, aptly so)  the patches are as follows:
One fish, two fish, red fish, blue fish : Dr. Seuss
   Giving tree : Shel Silverstein
Where the wild things are : Maurice Sendak
   Hungry Caterpillar : Eric Carle
   Corduroy : Don Freeman
   Knuffle bunny : Mo Willems
   Hands : Louis Ehlert
Put me in the zoo : Robert Lopshire
If you give a mouse a cookie : Laura Numeroff
Harold's trip to the sky (purple crayon fame) : Crocket Johnson
a number/ alphabet book from Sesame Street
Richard Scarry's best first book ever : Richard Scarry

I'm personally responsible for "where the wild things are", "Knuffle bunny" and "Hands".
22  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Children's book quilt on: May 24, 2007 09:32:30 AM

This quilt was a gift to friend who is a member of my book group and her brand new baby.  It was a collaborative effort among the other book group members- each was responsible for making 2 patches to represent their favorite children's books.  We then also purchased the books and presented them to her when giving her the quilt.

I just finished watching the movie "Science of Sleep"... there is a dream sequence in the movie with art that reminded me of your work.  I had to log on and tell you.  (would also recommend this movie to all craftster members)
Love your creativity!
25  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Baby Showers And Gifts For New Babies / Re: Who's your favorite children's book character? on: May 22, 2007 09:05:29 PM
Oh, this has been a blast to read...  I think it would be nice to add some Kevin Henkes mice on your shelf- Lilly, Julius, Chester, Owen etc.  Someone also mentioned Olivia- a big nod from me.  I also vote for the characters in Rosemary Wells books- they would be gender friendly (you mentioned possible girls in the future).  What about the vegetables and fruit from the How are you Peeling? books?  Another idea would be Trixie from Knuffle Bunny, and the Pigeon from the Mo Willems books.  And DEFINATELY Max from Where the wild things are!  Everybody seems to be voting for him!
This sounds like a fun project!  Have fun- I can't wait to see the pics!

26  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Baby Showers And Gifts For New Babies / Re: TUTORIAL copy of a taggie blanket on: May 22, 2007 08:44:42 PM
Nice!  i was so surprised to see the price on the taggies in the store-- way overpriced.  I think this will be my new "to-do" for baby gifts.  Great idea!
27  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Re: fun light switches on: May 18, 2007 02:43:07 PM
The "foods with moods" light switches are my favorite thing so far on crafster.  I LOVE the mood/food books and have always wanted to find a wallpaper with the "how are you peeling" fruits and veges for my kitchen.  Great idea to put them in light switches!  I'm going to go right out and copy your idea if you don't mind...
