3  Re: Pirates of the Caribbean Swap Round 2 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by penguinsarentpink on: May 15, 2007 01:29:51 PM
After much impatience over the fact that the package didn't get here a day after it was sent, I got my package of goodies today! Everything is so great! Wanna see? Of course you do!

Firsttttt I found a polka dot (how did she know I have a polka dot obsession right now?) headband with a cute little skull on it:

Next a matching handbag with more cute skulls.

Looks like an ordinary handbag, right? Wrong! It is much more better than an ordinary handbag! It is a handbag full of every kind of chocolate known to mankind!

A sweet pair of black wristlets, to match....

A skull skully! I'm really not going to be able to show this to my dad or he'll probably steal it. He's on a pirate high since our church is doing a message theme on Pirates of the Caribbean/Treasure (my church rocks!) It's ok to be jealous...

The bottom of the box (this baby was loaded with sugary goodness)

And the reason I'm going to have to find a hiding place for all of this:

This has been the best first swap EVER! Thanks DisneyFan for organizing this, and Andrea for my amazing stuff!

4  Wacky Photo Shoot [lotsa pictures] in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by penguinsarentpink on: April 12, 2007 09:37:54 PM
Yeah, I know. Who says "wacky" anymore nowadays?

I had made a top and a dress to fit my best friend (since nothing cute ever looks good on me), and I told her to come over tonight to try them on. What resulted was an hour of serious fits of laughter, and this:

This was supposed to be a top, but it ended up being long enough to be a dress (I actually wanted her to wear leggings underneath, but I didn't have any at the time)

A better shot

And the dress...

Good times, good times...

5  Jeepers Batman! It's the bat pillow! in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by penguinsarentpink on: April 12, 2007 02:27:46 PM
For Christmas last year, I wanted to make themed pillows for everyone. My little brother's favorite superhero is Batman. So........ this is what I came up with:

He sleeps with it every night  Grin

And my sister is a big comfy couch fan:

My first attempt at a circle pillow... it's a little lumpy, but she liked it.

6  Re: Eskimos n Igloos PJ Shorts in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by penguinsarentpink on: April 03, 2007 10:33:37 AM
Thanks everyone!

Radioactivepenguin (nice name by the way...) I got the material at Joanne Fabrics  couple years ago. I don't know if they still have any.

live4today_die4tomorrow, This is the basic pattern:

This is without seam allowance (but I never added seam allowance, because I wanted to make them small in purpose).

You need 4 of these pieces. Sew two of the pieces down the long 12 inch side right sides together. Do the same to the other two pieces.

You have two pieces now. Right sides together, sew them together on the curved sides.

Right sides together, sew the little 2.5 inch (now 4 inch) parts together.

All you have to do now, is hem the legs and make a tube for the elastic at the top (and add two little buttons to the front for kicks).

The shorts I made came out to fit a size 0. It took me MAYBE an hour. Probably less than that.

I hope that was understandable.

7  [image heavy] Eskimos n Igloos PJ Shorts [now w/ tute] in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by penguinsarentpink on: April 02, 2007 02:00:33 PM
These aren't anything super special, but I love them. All I did was take a part an old pair of Soffes (sp?) and use that as my pattern. I brought these to church to have one of the middle school girls from my small group at church try them on (because I made them way small on purpose) and they were all freaking out about them (they defeinitely haven't seen the stuff everyone on this board makes). Anyways, here they are...

8  Roxy Gypsy Bag Look Alike in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by penguinsarentpink on: May 28, 2006 11:12:47 AM
I was at Ron Jon Surf Shop and one of my friends saw a purse that she liked, and it looked easy enough to make, so I told her I'd make her one for her birthday. This is what I came up with.

The purse from Ron Jon:

The one I made

Front:

Back:

I covered a poker chip to make a button for the closure.

Whadaya think?

9  Re: TUTORIAL: Make a Lined Zippered Pouch in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by penguinsarentpink on: August 21, 2005 05:07:21 PM
Weeeeeeell, everyone else is posting their attempts so I thought I'd show you mine! I made a few mistakes mostly because I'm impatient and couldn't figure out the zipper foot, but I'll do better next time. The flower is made of felt. This tutorial rocked and was so easy to understand! Thanks so much!
