1  SEWING IN GENERAL / Machine Embroidery: Discussion and Questions / What site do you buy your machine embroidery patterns? on: June 25, 2014 07:36:35 PM
So, I love Urban Threads. I think the designs are amazing, & love that all(?) of their designs are available in a variety of sizes.

Now, my boyfriend wants some shirts & hats embroidered with bass fishing gear. I've done a bit of scouring of the internet, & have yet to find a site that measures up, even in part, with how much I like Urban Threads in terms of usability or designs.

My question, then, is this:

What site do you buy your embroidery designs from? Bonus points if they are as awesome as UT.

Alternatively: Recommend free Mac compatible digitizing software.

Thanks in advance, everyone!

I received the CUTEST lil tree from Painted Sparrow!  I just wish I was able to get a better picture of it for everyone to see how truly lovely it is!  She included fall leaves and bats on the tree, oh it is amazing!  And she made it functional by making it into a picture holder!  Thanks so much, it is really amazing and I love it!

Painted Sparrow, if you have better pictures, please feel free to post them as this one does not do this piece justice!

I'm so glad you like it! It was a pleasure to make, I had such fun with the little bats, especially! I will try to remember to post some additional pics once I get them edited! Smiley

And holy cemetery automaton! That is incredible, you amaze me, Yoopidou, seriously.

Hey everyone - I am back from holidays and was desperate to pick up Painted Sparrows goodies from my workplace where I get them sent. I got home opened the box - squealed with unbridled excitement and jumped onto the gallery.

Can I just say - Painted Sparrow you take beautiful photos.

Mine doesn't look as good but I wanted to show you I have updated the countdown pumpkin as here in Australia we have 10 days left till Trick or Treat. You have to see this pumpkin in real-life to appreciate it's awesomeness. The shape and coloring are perfect. Thanks so much Mariya it is exactly what I needed.

And the curio cabinet is so beautiful - from Mortimer - every time I see him I smile, to the black beaded tree, to the little detailed barrels.

I am glad you liked your cloche and am so glad we were swap partners. Thanks for making me such fantastic items to get ready for some bwahahaha!!  Cheesy

I'm so glad you liked everything! It was such a pleasure crafting for you, a truly fantastic experience! I'm especially glad you enjoy Mortimer, he was so hard to send off (& is actually my current profile picture on the Facebook, lol), but I'm glad he went to someone who likes him as much as I do!

And thank you for the pictures compliment, the boyfriend got me a light box for my birthday a couple months ago & I'm still trying to get the hang of it, but it's working pretty well so far. Smiley

Happy almost Halloween, everyone! Cheesy

It is in fact an apple that I carved a face into, dehydrated and then painted a grey-green color before putting it into the candle.  I am so happy you love it.  I like the way it turned out cloudy like that, it ups the creepy factor Smiley

Oo, nice! I used to work in a grocery store, & let me tell you, it has such an awesome realistic moldy look. Combined with the cloudy look, so awesome creepy. Smiley You rock!

Received my super cool OTT from Crazyda79 over the weekend! This is so cool & creepy & morbid, I love it!

A creepy candle, complete with crinkled head! Hopefully she'll have a moment to verify, but I suspect it is an apple or orange that is carved with a face & allowed to rot to that awesome blue-green state. I think it is so freaking fantastic! How cool is this?!

It's so cool, I couldn't help but take a handful of creepy awesome pics!

Thank you so much, Crazyda79! This is such an awesome new thing for my Halloween decor gathering, so freakin' wonderful! Thank you! Cheesy

Got my package from the wonderful Whenindoubtsew the other day! It is fantastic, & so clever!

First, I have a lot of cloches on my Pinterest, I just love the look of them. So she make me a fantastic cloche assemblage! And how clever that she used a cut-up 2-liter bottle for it?! Genius!

Closeups of the top & bottom. I didn't capture it quite right, but there's a house on the top of the skull where the floating bats are coming out of. And the skull glows using a flameless candle that goes up underneath it.

And straight off my Pinterest, a spiderweb doily hoopla! Already has a super happy home on my hoopla wall, an awesome addition!

And a couple of extras!

Thank you so, so much, Whenindoubtsew! They are perfect & excellent additions to my growing Halloween decor collection!! Cheesy

AND! She is away from home at the moment, but asked me to post some pictures of what I sent her. So, here's a few pics of what I crafted for her.

She had mentioned wanting a countdown block calendar & likes realistic pumpkins, so I built up a wire & paper maché pumpkin holder for the hand-painted blocks. And if you recall me mentioning the cool fact, the inside box of this was made on my boyfriend's 3D printer.

Another thing she mentioned was a shrine, so I made a wee witch's cupboard! A carved pumpkin in a jar, barrels of ingredients, a sparkly tree from a happy skull & my pride & joy of it, Mortimer the escaping pumpkin! There are some thumbnails of each side & the outside of the box, too.

This was an awesome swap & I was so happy to be able to craft for Whenindoubtsew! This has been an amazing swap, amazing crafts, amazing partner, amazing organizers, fantastic!

Working away, have some progress done, need some more layers & some wee things to add, not doing too shabby!

Painted sparrow - it is a long wait  Embarrassed I usually have a few swaps on the go at the one time so the wait doesn't seem so long - keep myself distracted  Tongue I know it left US on the 4th so should land here anywhere between the 12th - 18th of October. Sorry it takes so long  Undecided I can't wait to see what you've made me  Cheesy

Psh, don't apologize! I'm just an anxious & impatient person sometimes. lol Smiley I can't wait for your package to arrive here, too!
