I am loving all of these crafts.. I see more portal crafts in my future.. you have all inspired me to make more (esp turret flavored crafts!)

I received my package from Alchamy and it is amazing!!

Check it out (and please ignore the craft mess in the background Tongue )

Companion Cube Pillow!! (Alchamy- I almost made you a companion cube pillow out of felt! wouldn't that have been hilarious?)

And a lemon grenade! She also sent an awesome lemon shaped soap dispenser, but the picture hosting is being funky so I couldn't get that one uploaded.

I LOVE THEM ALL. Thank you Alchamy, you did an amazing job!! Cheesy

3  Why not Zoidberg.. Jesus? in Needlework: Completed Projects by astriusstar on: August 05, 2011 10:31:48 PM
This has to be one of my fave pieces I have created so far. I love Zoidberg.. and I love ironic things so I wanted to make a Zoidberg Jesus..

Probably the only Jesus picture that will hang in my house.. but who needs another one with awesomeness like this? I used an image from google to make a pattern and even got some silky DMC threads for his robe, this picture really doesn't show the sheen of it... (let me tell you finding the right "zoidberg" orange is hard!) I used running-stitch for the outline and lots and lots of satin (satan?) stitch to fill him in.

Hope you enjoy/giggle as much as I do over it! Smiley

4  That low down lying cake. in Needlework: Completed Projects by astriusstar on: July 29, 2011 10:00:11 PM
I am currently making a bunch of stuff for the Portals and Friends swap and since I can't really squee too much about what I am making ( it does have to be a surprise after all) I thought I would post my Portal Cake Embroidery I made awhile ago.

I think this piece is a little sloppy looking, but I am just going to chock that up to my beginner skills and this was like my 3rd piece. (I've only been embroidering since April..)
and please pardon the not so straight outline.. that is due to me not being able to free hand a straight line to save my life and I was using a perm. marker to draw the pattern on (I know, I live on the edge).

Thanks for looking and I hope you like it.

5  Aqua Teen Hunger Force..errr Aqua Unit Patrol Squad 1 in Needlework: Completed Projects by astriusstar on: July 21, 2011 11:33:14 AM
Here are the rest of the characters from Aqua Teen that I embroidered.. Master Shake, Frylock and the Moonites. Mainly just used back stitch/running stitch as outlines and satin stitch to fill them in. They each took about 5-7 hours to make and Master Shake and the Moonites were done in one sitting each (with a marathon of Aqua Teen playing in the background of course) I plan on making an MC Peepants and Boxy Brown and Friends soon to go with the Meatwad that I already created (can you tell I like this show just a little bit?)

I made this one as a custom piece to raise money for my cousin who lost everything in the Joplin Tornado (I also made another Master Shake and Meatwad to go with it) so I have to stitch up another one for myself!

I kinda want to re-do this one, the stitching looks a little messy to me, the neon floss was hard to work with and didn't want to stay tight after I finshed the piece.. but it's still awesome in my eyes Cheesy

Thanks for looking!!

6  Clockwork Orange in Needlework: Completed Projects by astriusstar on: July 16, 2011 06:52:28 PM

Viddy Well..
I created this piece based off of the book illustration for a Clockwork orange. I just loved how it looked. Cheesy I love both the movie and the book, but in the end this was the picture that won out for my embroidery piece.

I used a back stitch for the outline, then filled everything in with a satin stitch. The lettering at the top was quite annoying to complete, but in the end it turned out ok. the whole thing is in a 7" hoop and the piece took me over 5 hours to make!

Thanks for looking Smiley

7  Meatwad! in Needlework: Completed Projects by astriusstar on: July 15, 2011 06:22:44 PM

meatwad 1 4.19.11 by astriusstar, on Flickr

This has to be one of my favorite pieces that I have created. I found a random image of Meatwad off Google, then transferred it onto some scrap fabric, filled him in with some double stranded embroidery floss and voila' a thready meatwad! the hoop is only 3" so he is pretty tiny, but he just made a debut at an art show at my work along with 11 other pieces of my geeky embroidery. I am pretty proud of this guy.. he took 7 hours to make!
