Also, roundabout what size were the final dimensions of the enlarged bag? I want to know if I can fit a paperback in there (main criteria for any purse in my opinion!!!)

Chalk, measuring tape, seam ripper (I have two!), scissors, pins (with magnet) and tape - which I use to mark the seam guide on my machine, etc.
