Butterick B6582.... oh, how I have waited for you! I bought this pattern about five years ago. I thought it would be perfect made up in white stretch satin. I bought the satin about three years ago... and it sat on my sewing table. And sat... until I cut it out last summer, and finally put it together last week. Whew. Only took five years for it to come together.



Overall, I think it turned out great. Not that I'm sure white stretch satin was the best choice... but the pattern is solid. The only part I disliked was the "cross over" neckline. Not much of a cross. More like a two-part-sewn-down neckline. The pattern was not too difficult, maybe an intermediate level? I would certainly recommend it. I love the late 50's, early 60's feel.

Happy Valentine's Day, friends!

I stitched this up, intending to frame it in a wooden hoop and hang it up... but it didn't fit! I was thinking maybe a pillow... but I am still unsure. Anyone else have any suggestions as to what I should do with it?

My college roommate, Erik, got married on January 2nd. Although I like wedding registries and I think they are very helpful, it didn't feel right for me to gift Erik something that did not come from me.



I knew I wanted to make them a sampler, something they could hang in their home that would include their names and the date of the wedding. But what remained was the design. If there's one thing I know about Erik, it's that he has great hair. Tiffany, too, so it just sort of worked itself out. I drew the design out on paper, and then transferred it onto the fabric using ye olde window method. I filled in the large areas with colored pencil and embroidered the rest! The frame is a thrift store frame, re-used. Ah! The quote! That was part of a quote they used on their wedding invites, so I thought it was fitting.

All around, it turned out to be a great wedding gift that I hope they'll keep around for awhile.

I finally finished! Whoohooo! It only took me three months.



This sweater totally makes me look chunky. I would NOT suggest using cheap acrylic yarn like I did.

I'm done with this hat!



I knit it in the round on size 9 needles. I think I cast on something like 76 stitches.

PerfectLoneliness- I did a 2x2 ribbing, and I think it turned out good, but a 1x1 ribbing would work fine, if you ask me.

Ok, I was totally inspired by this post, even though I am from Michigan, not Canada. In my defense, I DID watch CBC while knitting, and I am right next door to Canada. 




I used hot pink fun fur, and green around the edges to make it more stable. The colors are kind of off in the picture.

It will be a Christmas gift for someone who makes fun of my knitting.

I know a few people were asking for more ideas for necktie projects. I was inspired to make this cuff after seeing a similar one in a store. Urban Outfitters, maybe?
