1  Re: Wee House Craftalong-Ongoing 2011-2012 in Craftalongs by Snugglebugmom on: September 29, 2012 07:59:30 AM
I thought it would be fun to post some in-progress pictures of my new wee house. The other one is on hiatus... until I get past the "ugh how did it turn out so amateurish" annoyance and fix things.

The new one is the dollhouse with veranda that Knickertwist recommended. Loving it so far. It seems to be inhabited by a tiny crypto-zoologist, a studious little fellow.

He doesn't have much furniture yet, but he brought some interesting objects. That thing in the tube is actually a unicorn horn. Apparently unicorns shed their horns once in a blue moon. Who knew?

He found conclusive proof that Bigfoot exists; that big white thing is a cast of a footprint.

He likes fresh fruit and vegetables, as is obvious from the apple and the carrot on the little cutting block.

No electricity yet, so he has to make do with candle light.

The only problem with the house?
There seems to be a bit of a mouse infestation.

I feel like I am hogging the thread, but thanks to hubby I have the camera figured out so here are a few more detail pictures.

The chairs, made from bits of acorn (no idea what those bits are called!) and copper wire twisted into a spiral.

The roof, crumpled up and inked scrapbook paper mod-podged on there.

And the front exterior, which shows the barky appearance. Funny thing is the texture is as smooth as glass!

Sorry about spamming... I promise I won't post again until at least 3 other people have had a chance to get a word in edgewise.  Grin

Yay pictures!
First off, my blank slate... the fantasy villa just put together:

After a bunch of painting and messing with the roof, trying to get an idea of whether the colors work the way I want them to:

Once I get the %$#^@ camera sorted out, I will take some better shots of my tiny chairs.

I would love the link! I took my kids to the park the day before yesterday, and picked up a ton of twigs and pine cones and a few pieces of wood. I think I'm going to decorate the outside of the house with the twigs, and I would like to try and make a bed and maybe some other furniture out of them as well.
My biggest issue at the moment is trying to figure out how to take a decent close-up with our camera. It's an old piece of junk and it doesn't take a good picture anymore. Most of them are either over-exposed or too dark, and generally the close-ups are horribly out of focus. I made the cutest little pine cone chairs but the picture is disastrous Sad

Edited to try and add a picture (the coin in the picture is the wrong way around  Roll Eyes but it's a dime):
