for the Japanese Cuteness Swap, i created an mp3 player speaker out of an altoids tin. The wonderful people there asked for a tutorial. so here it goes.
Here is the finished product.


I decided to decorate it with paint and kawaii themed foam pieces. You also use clay, decoupage, or whatever floats your boat.

Supplies:
altoids tin
coarse sandpaper
metal file
Sturdy surface
Philips head screwdriver
hammer
paint
spray sealer
foam (or whatever you will use to decorate it)
headphones
card stock or playing card
needle
tacky glue

Procedure:
1. I emptied my tin of all altoids so that the tin doesn't get ruined in your bag. (watch for the looks you get every time you take a sandwich bag filled with white pill shapes out of your bag)


2. Set out all the hole making supplies. I used a sturdy surface with the tin on its side. I used a philips head screwdriver, a hammer, and relentless hammer to create a hole large enough to fit the headphone jack through.


You can also use a drill with a small bit if you have one.

3. Once the hole is large enough, use a metal file to smooth the edges.

4. Side the whole tin. This will keep the original paint from showing through and help the new paint stick.


5. DECORATE -paint will need a few coats. I left off the foam pieces until i was finished


I used spray sealer after it was dry to keep it from chipping.
6. Take the foam off of the headphones. Remove the backs of the headphones as well. Do not throw out the foam. thread the cord through the hole. Place foam in the tin and place each headphone on top.



7. Take a piece of card stock. You can decorate it if you want. Punch holes in it near where the headphones would sit. you can also use a playing card. tuck it into the tin.


8. Finish the outside of the tin.

Hurray!!!! it's done
remember to turn the volume up loud on the mp3 player.
There is a guy on instructables that made one but he used actual speaker parts and solder to put the thing together. he also used a lego block. finding the parts was particularly impossible so i borrowed part of his idea to make this.

My husband is a huge batman fan. For his birthday, i decided to make him a batman cake since he hates fondant i had to get creative. i tried for the bat-signal. Yellow and black icing for the light but i used marzipan for the actual batman. Thanks for looking!
 

So I planned my wedding in 3 months last year. When i saw what they were charging for something as simple as a card box, I decided to make my own.

My wedding colors were aquamarine and espresso. I designed my card box to match the design of my cake. The colors in the pictures are a little off. They were taken by different cameras. Hope you guys like it!
