1  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: I need to find an elephant/mammoth to knit! on: April 12, 2007 06:41:30 AM
Hi, I've made a woolly mammoth before and I used a modified version of the elephant and rhino in World of Knitted Toys. Then for the tusks, I modified the rhino's tusks. Since I used wool for the yarn, I also felted it a bit, before I sewed it up, to give it that mammoth-y look.
Unfortunately, I don't have a picture of it, but I gave it to my friend and she loved it.

I hope that gives you an idea of how to start.

That's awesome. I'm adding it to my favorites right now!
3  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Blue Sky Organic Dyed Cotton-machine washable? on: April 11, 2007 11:25:10 AM
Hi, I am going to knit the kid's swingcoat from Knit and Tonic. On the Blue Sky website, it says the yarn is supposed to be handwashed or dry-cleaned. I'm sure that my yarn label at home says blue sky cotton can be machine washed. Does anyone have experience on this? I'd rather not knit a kid's garment that can't be machine washed. Thanks very much!

Has anyone picked up this book by Francesca DenHartog? I'm very interested in it, but have not had the chance to check it out. Likes/dislikes?

Wow lawral! That really looks great. I love your yarn choice! It's pretty and glittery.

Here is mine. Note: I don't usually stand so awkwardly, this is just to get a pic of the lace on the sleeves.
