1  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / ... And that makes me a sad panda... on: August 05, 2011 10:36:38 AM
I've been feeling a bit down lately, so I made a bunch of pendants to match my mood!  I call them "sadimals" lol
These are my latest laser cut creations, these were much more labour intensive than ever because of all the tiny little pieces.

My favourite is my sad panda!

I made a sad red panda, because I love red pandas and I guess people liked them since they all sold.  I currently scrambling to make more.

This poor birdy is lucky enough to get away (for now), but unfortunately that makes for a very sad kitty.

And this bunny's arms are too short to reach her carrot, so she's a bit sad too!

As always, feedback is welcome Cheesy Thanks everyone for looking! <3
2  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Pandas, Tigers and Penguins - oh my! on: June 06, 2011 05:03:11 PM
Hi All!
So I have been a busy bee and have a bunch of new creations I'd love to share with you all.  If you haven't seen my earlier posts, I mainly make laser cut acrylic jewelry.

I always wanted a cute panda pendant, so I made one!!  I am so happy with how it turned out!

In previous posts, I had a cupcake bunny and cupcake cat.  Now I have cupcake bear in a similar format.

My penguins all sold out, so i made new better quality ones!  In even better colors, bright pink and light blue

I made a new style of my tiger (which also sold out)

And added new colors of the cupcakes and ice cream cones!

I also feel the need to post the steps I take to create my pieces, just so there's a bit more understanding out there about how I work.  I don't mass produce things (sometimes I get accused of this), and each item takes lots of time, care and effort.

Steps to making Laser cut pendants (I hope to have a pic/video tutorial soon) But for now I will just type this up for all the skeptics!

1)  I create the design in Adobe Illustrator, I separate the design into several parts, each will be cut from a different color of acrylic.

2) I create seperate ai files for each sheet/color of acrylic i want to use.  I lie out each piece on its corresponding color.

3) I send my files to a laser cutting service, they cut and mail the pieces  (or I go and pick up)

4)  The fun begins!!  If needed, I sort the pieces according to which design the belong to.  Next, each piece has masking on either side to protect the plastic during laser cutting.  I have to remove this masking on every single tiny piece of plastic.  Most often, it's hundreds (sometimes thousands?) of tiny little pieces I have to peel off.

5) Once the pieces are unmasked, it's time to wash them (every single one).  Sometimes with warm dishsoap.  This helps get rid of any residue left over from engraving.  Then I pat them dry.

6) Finally I can glue pieces together!!! YAY!  I assemble the tiny pieces and turn them into pendants.

7) Add any eyes, swarovski crystals, andy other details

Cool  We're done!  Just add a chain. ^_^

Sorry for such a long post.  Thanks to all who read it!! <3 you all!
3  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Sneak Peak: Kitty and Lolita Girl Cameo Pendants on: May 30, 2011 05:25:18 PM
You may remember me as the girl who's crazy about laser cutting. Wink
It's been a busy last few weeks.  But now I'm back on my computer.

This weekend was spent at Anime North (in Toronto), where I debuted a bunch of new designs I've been working on. I couldn't wait to share, so I decided to post these pics here, right now.  The pics are a little blurry since they were taken from our table at the con, and we unfortunately had our table in the most poorly lit area of the room >_<

One of my favourite latest creations was this one:

I love to draw!  So I created this image of my kitty character hanging off the top of a giant stack of macaroons.  The images are printed onto acrylic and then cut into an oval shape to fit into the resin setting i used. Since the images are printed onto acrylic and laminated, they are super duper durable! and won't fade/peel away.

Next I made a cute lolita style character, holding a teddy bear.

I decorated them with a bow cabochon (for the kitty pendant) and a large sparkly flower cab (for the lolita girl pendant), plus tons of swarovski crystals!

Comments, suggestions?

Thanks gals and guys! <3

4  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / For all the Crazy Cat Ladies... Kitty Pendants Galore! on: May 07, 2011 09:21:45 PM
Hello Lovelies!
I love kitties, and I find that kitty items tend to be more popular amongst my customers.  So I went a little crazy and made four new laser cut pendant designs, involving kitties and sweets!

These were a little more complex then the last laser cut pendants I made, since they had a lot more pieces to cut  out and assemble, adding all the swarovski crystal details is also time consuming, but well worth it!  I'm really glad with how they turned out!

First up is a super happy kitty fancy pendant!  I had the laser engrave a cute heart pattern on the pink part.  I thought it looked really cool.  The edges of the pendant are all blinged out with Swarovski crystals.

Next is a Kitty holding a cupcake with swarovski crystal sprinkles!  Again I used engraving on the cupcake cup to make the awesome heart details.

Now kitty is on top of the cupcake!

Last but not least, here's a tiny kitty on a strawberry.  My boyfriend calls this kitty 'spider kitty' since she's so small in comparison to the strawberry lol.  I used big 7mm swarovski crystals for the strawberry details.

I used onyx cabochons for the eyes and swarovski crystal for cheek details.  Thanks for looking guys. And as always, I'm interested in hearing what you think of them. ♥
5  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / New Laser Cut Pendants Geek Kitties, Cupcakes and Ice Cream - Oh My! on: April 28, 2011 08:50:12 PM

I <3 Laser cutting!  Here are some new awesome things I made!  I'm really happy with how they turned out!

I love nerds and kitties so I combined them both!

I'm on a diet... but love ice cream and miss it soooo much.  So I made this calorie free ice cream pendant! lol

and I had to do the same for cupcakes!

kitty + cupcake = kittycupcake

don't forget teh bunnies! bunny + cupcake = chocolate bunnycupcake!

All the pieces were laser cut from various shades of acrylic and then painstakingly  assembled by me ^_^ I used swarovski crystals for sprinkles! And I used onyx cabochons for eyes.  I really like how onyx cabochons work as eyes!

Your opinions and comments are always appreciated!

Hi All!
I'm a relatively new indie artist/jewelry designer.  I thought I would share a few of my projects.  I hope to share tutorials and stuff with you all too - I'm currently working on a video/tutorial for a swarovski heart pendant, which is almost done.  UPDATE: my video is done! yay... Here's a relatively short how-to vid/tutorial of me making a swarovski heart pendant!

I started off by upcycling san-x and sanrio items, and turning them into necklaces/accessories... here's an example of swarovski heart pendants I love to make:

Some more swarovski heart pendants - these still need chain:

Super happy kitty with macaroons!

... and more macarons!

A very hungry kitty!

Schoolgirl and a kitty...

And a red panda!  My absolute favourite animal!

Hope this wasn't too long but I wanted to share my work with you all.
I'm running a giveaway on my facebook page - once I reach 100 fans I will pick a winner at random!  You'll get to win a laser cut pendant (or earrings).  Links to my blog, etsy, twitter and facebook are in my signature!

what do you all think?  comments/suggestions welcome! ♥♥
