11  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Love Letter Swap? on: August 03, 2006 02:10:21 PM
This is an idea that just flitted through my mind. Roll Eyes I'm not even sure if it really makes total sense. I was thinking, we could do a swap based on the theme of love letters. Who isn't an old fashioned romantic at heart? Tongue You would make/send items that are somehow connected to love letters.

Here are some examples:I saw a cool necklace recently somewhere on the web that had a tiny pmc envelope pendant. You could send your partner cool stamps to use, beautiful old collector stamps or custom stamps that you can order online now. You could send romantic stickers or stationary to help their letter writing stash. I could think of several cool love letter related t-shirt design ideas. You could make a tote bag for somebody that mimics a mail carrier's bag. You could send a cool box for keeping letters in or some pretty ribbons for tying them in bundles.... And the list could keep going forever.

Anybody think this is a cool idea?

Tasha,
I'm so glad that you like it! I adore the design myself. I wish I could say that I created it. Ah, but no, the genius at the site below did! And lucky us, she was kind enough to share the whole thing!

btw...for anybody who is wondering...I accidently bought stretch twill which she says is a no no and it worked just fine.

Hello all! Here's my wist!

http://www.wists.com/botanyhead

I'm so excited to do another round! Hooray!

My profile:
I'm a 25 year old wife and mommy living in Connecticut. I have one child, an adorable baby boy who was born in April. I am married to a fabulous computer geek. I used to do a lot of theatre, mostly acting. I am from Michigan originally and I have to say that state will always have my heart. I love you Michigan! I love to grow things. I am really into birds, flowers, mushrooms...and general outdoors things. I like to sew, knit, crochet and draw although I'm not amazing at any of them. I also really love to cook and eat and read about cooking and eating; in short I'm a foodie. I also really love to travel. I speak Spanish. I love Prairie Home Companion and historical movies ("Costume Things") and dill pickles. I'm a little crunchy. I like music. I love to read. And I like lots of colors although I'm not much for neons.

I made this cool baby carrier. I'm not sure what category to put this in so it goes here I guess. It works great! I love that it is soft and all cloth. No buckles or straps or rings to cut into you after long amounts of time carrying. I also love that the red patterned fabric is an insert. It velcros in and you can change it to go with whatever you're wearing or whatever the season is! Isn't that fun! Here's my husband modeling it in the back-carry position. It can also be worn on the front.

18  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Re: Baby quilt for my cousin-in-law... on: August 01, 2006 05:55:18 AM
Yeah....I sort of used a pattern. I drew up my own by combining ideas after seeing two quilts online that I liked.

Yes, that's a mermaid you spied in one of the bowls. Heh...couldn't find anymore cool fish cloth at our local fabric store so I went with mermaid in one for a fun surprise.

Thanks all for the great comments!

Lovely. I especially like the batik dress. You didn't do the dyeing yourself, did you? I want to try batik.
