Nicked the idea from a cartoon I saw, but can't credit the source (or google for more) because it was pre-pinterest  :-(

My first go at colourwork! this hat is for my daddy for christmas... and as any knitter will tell you colourwork definitely requires constant vigilance!

I thought I'd really challenge myself, and shrink down the biggest thing I could think of.... dinosaurs! These diplodocus are now each less than 4" from head to tail tip

I used this gingerbread recipe and added 100g of dark chocolate roughly chopped in before I rolled and cut the dough

Class: potions

My first go at batik on paper, then turned into a bookmark. I used a thingy for making fondue to melt down old candles and then painted with the wax

Class; Charms
House: ravenclaw
I wanted to use all stock for these bookmarks, so I had to adapt my designs to work with what I had!

Class: Alchemy

Patina is a goddess in the discworld novels, a parody of Aphrodite... and patina carries a penguin everywhere she goes Smiley

I had anticipated this being a very simple craft but actually I had difficulty finding an ink that would adhere to the paintchips well, and it took a fair amount of experimentation... you can see my first and final attempts in the picture to see the difference

Tiamatfire, I'd love to do a fabric swap with you...

I wonder if anyone else would want to join in?
Ok... Let's do it...
HPCers Fabric Scrap Swap
I'm thinking small peices for hexies or patchwork, etc. That way everyone can send from their own stash excess, and get new bits to add some variety!

would a no commitment swap work, do you think? akin to the Christmas card swap we Dodd last year in the hpc; i would collect a list of interested people & addresses, then send everyone on that list everyone else's details, and each person can decide for themselves what to send. That way no over is committed to shipping overseas if they'd rather not, and we can all just send what we can from our stashes, to increases the variety of what everyone has... Does that make sense?

Any one interested, pm me your address, and details of what fabrics would be useful (Any size guides, any clues on useful colours or patterns etc...)

Any questions just ask!

What time frame were you thinking, noodle-bug? I'd be interested if it's a longer send out time (i.e. by end of semester or so?).

I guess i was thinking to have it done a but before then, to avoid clashing with prepress Christmas crafting madness & the seasonal posting rush
That said, it only seems to be tiamatfire & i (and you hopefully) so far,  so I'm sure e can make it work for all of us... Even if more join, I'm sure none would mind you sending later anyway, it just extends the fun!

On another subject entirely... I need your umbridge memes! A friend is working with Imelda Staunton, and i intend to spam him to death until he gets my book 4 signed for me :-) i can google up a.goodly few but if anyone has a personal favourite funnies please pm me links!

Hi there - welcome to the hpc! If you tell us more specifically what's confusing you, or ask questions, we'll try or best to answer and clear things up  :-)

That project could fit a number of the prompts this term, for example charms (adapting an item), or other classes depending what it's made from and how familiar you are with the techniques you used. All the prompts are on the first page, so go have a read and decide what you think is most relevant. There's also lots of info there about the hpc and how it works so that could all bee useful too?

Yes,I've notice d that craftster loafs all my photos sideways these days too, irrespective of which way up they are on my computer. You can edit them after loading, but you'll also then need to confer back to the post and edit the img html width settings otherwise they'll stretch the image. Tbh i don't always have time, write often if i am posting it's just a flyby Willett i have a minute as i cue in the shops or something!

Drawing is a skill that i am working hard to pick up! I'd not done any for a while so decided to do some characters from a favourite graphic novel (fables) on postcards to send to the group of friends who i buy comics with  :-) perseverance is key!

I don't like pumpkin, but i decided to honour the orange colour by using my favourite orange food... Mango!
I used this recipe
http://www.tasteofhome.com/recipes/chunky-fresh-mango-cake
And made 4 times add much to fill a 7"and 8" caKe tin. I also tree in a handfull of desicated.coconut to the mix. I topped it with coconut cream (between the layers : squeezed 3 passion fruit on top, plus the zest of a lime and a blob of whipped cream
