hey thanks!  i've found a place near rittenhouse (?) square, and it's on locust, which would be very convienient for that knitting circle...  we took this train up to my school, yeah, we went thru some very very rough areas.  nothing like what's in boston.  luckily, my classes are during the day, so i think it would be okay to bike sometimes.  thanks again for your help!  jl

hey guys...
i'm looking for a little help...  i'm looking to move to philly august 1st, but i don't know anyone down there!  i am moving to attend a graduate course at philadelphia university... i am a 25 year old art school graduate, i'm veggie and have been for quite some time, but i am open to living in diverse households. biking is my main mode of transportation... i (heart) my bike. i don't smoke, i do sew and knit and craft. i also bake and cook, often. i clean up after myself because i am clean! i love animals and wouldn't mind living with them... if anyone knows of an open room or somebody looking for a roomie, i would really really appreciate it if you forwarded this along!  i'm also looking to join a knitting group and start crafting, i would really luv to meet new people and be a part of the community!
thanks!  j.

oh, you know what's bunk?  i had a skein, the type where you can see the end of the thread on the outside, and supposidly, you're supposed to be able to find the other end inside of the skein... ideally, you find the other end inside the skein and then use that end as a center pull.  so i spent forever trying to fish out the hidden end and, i swear, it was impossible.  i think it's a conspiracy.
18  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Re:record clocks revisited... on: March 18, 2004 09:48:36 AM
my partner in sales and i found the vinyl all over, mostly in cambridge... it was a little bit of a challenge to find cheap colored vinyl, but we dug a little and came up with some... also, her awesome roomate gave us some really cool old-school hardcore an punk records to use.  we had joan jett, quiet riot, the byrds, she kept the billy idol one for herself, and i still have a prince "purple rain" 7" that i can't part with.
19  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / center pull balls... part 2? on: March 17, 2004 07:36:01 AM
*hey guys*

i had read about making a center pull ball with a toilet ball roll... but last night, i needed a ball, but alas, there was no toilet ball roll to be had... so i used my knitting needle, is this weird?  i wound the yarn in my fingers, back and forth 15 times, then slid it off and held it against the needle, then proceeded to wind.  it came out really good, and i could turn it as i went along and once i was finished and tucked in my loose end, it slid right off the needle and the bottom closed up.  i think i've found my new method!!!

has anybody else done this before or am i just wicked smart???
