21  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Idea for an older man?.. on: November 07, 2005 03:53:45 PM
Does anyone have any crafty ideas for an older man?  He's my boyfriend's grandfather (but he and his wife have practically adopted me as one of their own).  Here are some things about him:

-He's 77
-He's very active
-He's religious and sings in the church choir
-He likes to work around the house
-He likes watching football (one of these who will go to the game and wear a headset to listen to a different announcer, lol)
-He likes dogs.

I'm kind of stumped.  I can crochet, embroider, paint, and sew a little bit.  I can do some other stuff too, but those are the only ones I can think of right now.  I thought about crocheting him a scarf, but his wife is like a master of crocheting...  She made me a 5 foot long scarf last year that looks perfect enough to be in a window at the Gap for $35!  I also thought about candy, but I'd want a way to jazz it up or present it specially.

Thoughts?
22  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / A little black dress..? on: October 27, 2005 08:59:36 AM
Okay, so I have this stapless little black dress with beading at the top.  I'm probably going out 3 times before it's all said and done, and I don't want to be sexy Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz every time, so I thought I could do something with this black dress.  Anyone have any costume ideas for a little black dress, other than a sexy witch or a vampiress?  I'm willing to buy or craft a few other components.  Thanks in advance. 23  NEEDLEWORK / Sublime Stitching Embroidery / My first! :) Poodle Baby Bib on: June 28, 2005 02:40:45 PM
This is a picture of my first embroidery. Smiley  It's the poodle done in French knots and split stitches.  It was made for a family friend who will be having a baby girl, Alexis, next month. Smiley

Edited to add: Apologies for the blurry picture!

24  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / School/Team Spirit Swap? on: May 20, 2005 05:27:54 PM
I've been tossing this idea around in my head for a while, so I thought I'd ask if anyone would be interested. Smiley  For those of us who are sports fans (or maybe just have school pride) we could do a spirit swap.  We'd swap colors, mascots, logos, mottos, etc. and make related items (an example would be a pennant or maybe a cheerleader Barbie or something).  We could do it for high school/college/professional teams.  Any interest? Smiley  I'll organize if there is. Smiley
25  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Discussion and Questions / Baby cross-stitch pattern? on: May 12, 2005 05:02:08 PM
Any ideas for a cross-stitch design that would be cute on a baby bib?  My friend is having a baby shower in a couple of weeks and I'd like to do something like that for her.  Maybe something kind of chic, if possible?  Ideas for what to do are great, patterns (free is good!) are even better. Smiley  Thanks for any help. Smiley

Oh, the baby is a girl and her name is going to be Alexis. Smiley
26  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Princess Peach (or Toadstool, if you prefer) Cross-Stitch :) on: April 22, 2005 05:22:13 PM
This is my first cross-stitch, so I'm pretty happy with how it came out. Smiley  My friend made the pattern:

27  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Egg Shells? on: April 22, 2005 10:41:44 AM
I'm about to make some deviled eggs for a picnic that's tomorrow, and I figure there has to be something I can do with the little pieces of shell that I'll be peeling away from the hard boiled eggs...  I just don't know what!  Thoughts?  Huh
28  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Chandelier Earrings :) on: April 17, 2005 04:02:31 PM
I've been wanting to make earrings like this at my local bead store for a long time, and I finally made them this weekend! Smiley  My mom came to see me at college, and she paid for them, which made it all the better. Smiley

Apologies for the bad picture.  They are sterling silver with silver beads and freshwater pearls hanging from chains.  I'm so excited. Smiley  I'll admit that I did a lot more of the design than the assembly because I was new to chandelier earrings, but the girl at the store taught me how, so I think I'm ready to tackle a pair on my own next time. Smiley
29  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Fish bowl? on: April 10, 2005 11:03:55 PM
Apparently, I'm not a good fish mommy... Sad  Any creative ideas for what to do with an empty fish bowl?  Something non-fish related would be cool. Smiley  Thanks for any ideas you have. Smiley
