11  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Re: Spring Flowers Cross Stitch on: May 19, 2011 01:49:29 PM
Thanks to both of you!

Ooohh a seam ripper! I'll have to get one of those! That would definitely make it easier on me to fix those stitches. I actually started this 3 different times. The first time I used 2 threads but thought it was too plain. So then I thought to double it to 4 threads and it was too much. 3 threads was just right. So each time I restarted this, I pulled out all the threads...pain in the butt!

This is my second attempt at cross stitch. The first cross stitch I did was of Eeyore and it was not a very good likeness of him, but I enjoyed making him. I picked up a cross stitch magazine and found this pattern. It seemed simple enough and it didn't take me long to finish it. I'm really pleased with it. I only messed up a few times and only 1 of those times I wasn't able to go back in and fix it because it was too late when I noticed it...and I didn't want to mess with that since I have no idea what I'm doing yet. Smiley

Some of the stitches aren't very tidy but I figure I'll get better with some practice.

I've gotten 3 inchies finished so far! It sounds pathetic when I say it out loud lol. But I had this really great idea for the one inchie and it took me forever to figure out how to make it work. Now I'm at peace that it's done.

So inventive! I love it! I'm going to show this to my sister because I bet she will want to try her hand at something like this.

I tend to use paint samples as backgrounds. They are free and available in a wide range of colors and sometimes textures.

My husband would like to thank you for giving me this idea because for the first time he heard me say "Let's go to Lowe's."

I got a MILLION paint color samples, but I'm trying to save them all for the swap instead of going crazy making them now...or I'll have to make another trip to Lowe's lol.
