151  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / Home made deodorant. Toxin free! SIMPLE! on: May 18, 2011 09:56:35 AM
I realized not everyone knows my favorite recipe for making home made deodorant. I prefer my stuff over any brand store made, and so do my friends and family. It actually works, and some times you can go two days(if you haven't showered already) without applying more. Its so easy too. I just wanted to share my recipe and hope more people realize whatever you put on your skin gets absorbed into your bloodstream, so whatever you wouldn't eat you should not put on your skin.
I have done a lot of research on the powers of coconut oil.
Antiviral, antifungal, and antibacterial, kills yeast, and is awesome to eat. Look it up.

Any who, here is my recipe.

I get organic pure coconut oil,  from a co-op or health food store, usually you can find a good deal on sale, cheaper than online at times. Regular baking soda, and regular cornstarch. I also have a small bottle of lemongrass essential oil, but you can use whatever scent you like, some pure essential oils have great skin healing effects like calendula and such. Look those up as well, whatever smells you like. I love lemongrass because its fresh smelling.

I get a baby jar, put around two tablespoons or so of coconut oil, pour in a tablespoon and a half of baking soda, and the same amount of cornstarch. I pretty much eye it and mix it with my finger so that it has a creamy but not too oily consistency. I then put two drops of essential oil and mix.

there you have it. Safe, great smelling, wonderfully strong and useful deodorant!

I find that if I write down the things my partners like and sneak around their wists and write down ideas I get then I can just sit down and start sketching all of them, and if I need a better visual google is there for more realistic images I forget the small details of. I love those inchies. My first time making them!
