24  img heavy* Joker painting step by stepish in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by coconutbells on: July 12, 2011 12:04:59 PM
This really isn't a tutorial, but I know of people who might want to see what steps I do when painting. A lot of the last few steps of detail, layering and refining are left out for your imagination because I was sick of taking pictures. Enjoy my latest painting, the JOKER! He is based on the original inspiration for the joker, actor Conrad Veidt. A man who's face is unforgettable!

I started by sketching him in my own style

I never paint with black until I have a base skin tone and shadows

I love to play around with eye colors and such.

ughh finally you've reached the bottom! enjoy. Kiss

25  a dress from psycho sue-wednesday addams in Clothing for Curvaceous Craftsters: Completed Projects by coconutbells on: July 12, 2011 11:39:49 AM
Thank you sue, for generously doing a personal swap first of all, second of all, I hope this is ok to post here, she made me a lovely wednesday addams dress in black and white, which I adore so much!

The details are amazingly professional and perfectly straight. I don't even know how that is possible, to make a perfect dress, but apparently, it is. Thank you so much, I love it!

27  the year 1816 skirt with bloomers/pantaloons (recycled dust ruffle sheet) in Clothing for Curvaceous Craftsters: Completed Projects by coconutbells on: June 25, 2011 11:38:17 PM
SO I have been wanting old timey clothes forever. And what a better time to sew them because I'm going to a Rasputina show july 30th and needed something fun to wear. I have taken a few fashion design classes but nothing too serious. I never use a tape measure, pins, a dress form, or patterns. I kind of just put the fabric on me, and cut. I design as I go. So I didn't really run across too many issues thankfully because doing things my way can get you in trouble. I always have a seam ripper handy! Anyway, here is a few pictures, I pleated the ruffle and its all part of my imaginary plantation house wife skirt. I am not sure what shirt I'll be wearing yet. We'll see. This outfit, so far has taken me around 3 1/2 hrs. Thankful that my daughter is in bed! Eventually I'll make some ms paint directions but you're probably better off seeking real instructions on youtube or something especially for the pantaloons/bloomers. Wink

The finished(?) skirt with two layers of dust ruffle.

the first layer of dust ruffle after I pleated the ruffle and sewed the base/semi yolk

 my cozy cotton pantaloons/bloomers.

I'm ready for hangin the laundry out in the field and enjoying a cup of earl grey under the willow tree with my lovely bloomers stretched across my bodacious bottom.
