1  Just scraps and buttons in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by stefjc on: June 10, 2012 08:21:02 AM
I have read and looked at hair grips and finally got round to trying them out. Nothing special just some sewing thread, material scraps and glue and, thanks to the joys of a pound shop, very cheap hair grips in 2 sizes. Altogether they are very easy and cheap to make!

Thanks for the idea, all of you who have done these already. I'm off to find some kirby grips and buttons with shanks so I can make different kinds of hair buttons - who needs bows?

3  Buttons as beads, lovely buttons in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by stefjc on: April 08, 2012 03:02:57 AM
OK, perfectly ordinary buttons! But I had fun making these

Ingredients
Buttons
Stringing elastic
Glue
Cross stich plastic stuff
Wire
Piece of material to cover the wires

Having worn the blue set for a week it seems that most people like the pendant, so that gets added to the list of stuff to make and do!

Yay!

4  My first attempt at needle felting in Felting: Completed Projects by stefjc on: January 01, 2012 08:20:51 AM
I bought some roving, a needle pen and mat about a month ago. I sort of practised, I felted and S onto an old table mat that was being pressed into service as a pocket on a patchwork bag. But that doesn't really count.

Then I got cookie cutters from Secret Santa and my first thought was NOT cookies but this, my first needle felt project:

Then I thought about getting a bit more adventurous and making something less chunky, more shaped, 3D and after an hour I had this

I was so surprised that the thin bits are nowhere near as fragile as they look that I'm considering playing more and trying to get something quite thin and gossamer like.

I may have found 'my thing'. About time as I've only benn looking for a year!
