1  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / what's a girl to do? on: April 16, 2007 03:00:57 PM
I am faced with a difficult question. I've decided to make my first sweater for myself. More specifically: http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEspring07/PATTcarolyn.html
I looked up the yarn it calls for, and it's really quite affordable. However, it's April and wool might not be fitting with the weather ahead. Also, some wools are itchy. I've never ordered yarn offline because I like seeing things with my own eyes.
I was considering: http://www.knitpicks.com/CotLin_YD5420162.html
But the colors don't have a great selection.

Any suggestions for some more seasoned knitters? It would be much appreciated.
2  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Knit1 Heart... modified on: January 16, 2007 10:38:28 AM
I saw the Knit1 magazine and decided to do the heart on page 60. However, I didn't like a few things. I changed the aorta and the veins on the aorta. Messed around with the placement of the things a bit after looking at some hearts. (Google anatomical hearts, will give you plenty of things to look at). I like it. Think I'll probably give it to the boyfriend for Valentine's day. I'd love to get feedback.

3  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / when is enough enough? on: January 08, 2007 11:34:01 PM
I'm sure this has happened to everyone. You make stuff, give it away. Usually people are thrilled with the thought and love the item itself. But, how much is too much? I can't help but wonder if I might burn my boyfriend out on knitted things. I made him a scarf for Christmas. His birthday is not that far away and I was thinking a pillow with the Blues Brothers on it (with others things too). Has anyone ever gotten to the point people no longer want the knitted goods? Just curious how I should approach this.
4  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / knitting tension too tight on: December 17, 2006 08:14:32 AM
I've been knitting for awhile now. I know the basic tricks. However, I always seem to knit really tight. I did knitty's fetching on size 8 dpn's and they're a little snug. Because of the ribbing, they're ok. My 8's are other people's 5's. How can I overcome this? Any tips would be appreciated.
