1  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Brothers Grimm Swap-SU June10-23 SO July 23 on: August 12, 2011 02:24:05 AM
Hello all. I was hospitalized three weeks ago and just got released. With my recovery, I doubt I'll be able to finish my brothers grimm swap. I am so very sorry. Unfortunately, I was unable to get word out while I was there, and have had to pull from other swaps. Please accept my deepest apologies. It was completely unforeseen.

I am so very sorry. Three weeks ago I was hospitalized and just recently was released. I appreciate the angels stepping forward, and I wish I could have figured out a way to get word to this forum during my hospital stay.

4  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Rose and Star *With Tutorial* on: July 09, 2011 09:21:47 PM
I modified this pattern: http://www.lionbrand.com/patterns/80214AD.html?noImages= from Lion Brand for the rose. The granny square star is just fooling around. I have no idea what I'll do with either one, but the flower may become a corsage eventually.

Updated with tutorial for the rose:
It's really easy!
I used one color. And one row. Use any hook and yarn type that strikes your fancy.

Chain 40 or however large you want the rose to be.
Row 1: 3 hdc in 3rd ch from hook, 4 dc in next ch, 5 dc in next ch, 3 tr in each ch to the end.
Fasten off.
Coil Flower into a spiral. Sew across base to secure. Weave in ends.
5  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Laptop Cozy on: July 09, 2011 09:14:32 PM
I started a laptop cozy because I needed something lightweight and bright. I chose a granny line (straight granny square?). Went around the length it needed to be, and then joined it in a circle to make the whole project more stable. I love it! Comments welcome!

I've been just as naughty, Brett. I don't have the questionnaire though. Sad Looking forward to getting it. Smiley
8  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Barbie Mint Green Dress with Pattern on: June 22, 2011 03:23:58 AM
Sorry about the .com reference on my earlier photos! I'm being careful to share with this community as much as they've shared with me! To say thank you, I'd like to post this pattern.

I was home on a visit with my Mom when we lost power off and on for two weeks due to freak tornado weather. With no internet, phone (cell reception died long before my phone did), television or new books to read, I turned to crochet. I was looking for Barbie patterns, but came across a lot of outdated patterns that had Barbie's old measurements. So I took three patterns from my grandmother's old books and created this little number. Feel free to recreate. You're welcome to sell any items from the pattern, but please give credit back to The Crafty Ginger when you do. It's a basic dress, and I'm a tight stitcher so your mileage may vary. Let me know what you think!

Row 23-27 *Ch 3 turn, sc in next 3 ch space, rep from * to end.

Row 28-29 *Ch 3 turn, sc in next 3 ch space, rep from * to end. Ch 3, sc attach to other 3 ch space, closing the skirt. Continue *ch 3, sc in next 3 ch space, around.

Row 30-End Continue pattern of *ch 3, sc in next 3 ch space until skirt reaches length desired. Tie off. And weave in strings.

To finish off the dress, sew velcro to the back.

What I would have done differently:

I would have made the dress a little longer. I also didnt have enough time to finish underclothes for the poor lady before I headed back to Alaska.

Keep crafting!
