13  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / "I Solemnly Swear" Cross Stitch on: September 09, 2015 11:13:37 AM
I FINALLY finished a very timely cross stitch project.  I was originally making it for my partner elliot_anne in the One Awesome HP Thing swap but I quickly found that I was never going to finish it in time.  So, I sent her something else, and slowly but diligently worked on it.  It took me over a month to do and at the end for 2 days I spent majority of my time on it to just get it done!  Whew!  I sent it off to elliot_anne and she received it.  I bought the pattern for this cross stitch on etsy, and it can be found here: https://www.etsy.com/listing/238068033/solemnly-swear-cross-stitch-pattern-i?ref=shop_home_active_17

My partner is a Ravenclaw, so I chose the appropriate colored pattern.  The Maker of the pattern has has all 4 color options available.

I worked so hard and I was so careful on this, and yet it still has its flaws and mistakes.  I tried my darndest to keep the fabric nice and clean and then when I was ironing it, the oils on it made the cloth turn brown, so I had to frame it tight to the writing and make a mat to hide my mistake.  I cut the mat out and covered it in fabric, which was actually easier than I thought it would be.  But still, ugh!  Though I'm still very proud of it despite its shortcomings.

Thanks for looking!
14  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Dolls & Matching Skirts for Toddlers on: September 09, 2015 10:55:27 AM
Hi there!  I've made up a couple dolls with matching skirts for a couple of my favorite toddlers.  The tutorial that I used is amazing and can be found here: http://www.makeit-loveit.com/2013/02/girl-boy-fabric-dolls-pattern-pieces-included.html

This first doll I made for my cousin's daughter for her 2nd birthday which we celebrated in August.

Her face is painted on, since I am a better painted than an embroiderer.

I love how versatile her hair is.  She can wear it braided . . .

or in buns, or just left down.  ^_^

The skirt is removable.

And here is the matching toddler skirt to go with the doll.

This next doll was made for a mom friend who I met on a facebook mom group.  Her daughter is 3 days older than my girl. So, I made this for her birthday, which is coming up this week.

This one has a different color scheme and a ruffle instead of a collar.  She also has a few more little details than the first, like a bow on the skirt and buttons on the shoes.

This doll has eyebrows, I'm not sure if I like the doll with or without better.

Here is Baby Bean modeling her friend's skirt and dolly.  ^_^

Claims are made throughout the month.  You have two weeks from the time you make a claim to send that claim.

You can make as many (or as few, as little as 1) claims as you want throughout the month as long as you never go over your allowed amount of outstanding claims. (An outstanding claim is a card that has not been received; when that card is received your number of outstanding claims goes down leaving you open to bring it back up to 7 or 10.)

Posting pictures of received ATCs is required for this swap.

1. Claims are made using the following procedure:

Person A (the swap organizer) will begin the swap by posting a list of themes in this swap thread.
Person B will choose a theme from one of A's themes and make a claim by posting his/her own list (see below for formatting of post).
Person C will make a claim on one of B's themes and post his/her own list.
Person D will make a claim on one of C's themes and post his/her own list etc...
This continues through the end of the month, when the swap organizer makes the final claim and closes out the claiming part of the swap.

2. How many claims can be made by each individual:

The number of claims each person is allowed depends on the following criteria:
*Friends of Craftster: 10 claims
*Those who aren't Friends of Craftster: 7 claims
*First time swappers (whether Friends of Craftster or not): 1 claim.  Once the initial claim has been sent, and its new owner has reported it received, the first time swapper is free to make more claims, either 7 or 10 dependent on being an FOC or not.

3. How to make a claim:

A claim post should include the following information:
1. The theme you are choosing and who youre sending it to.
2. Statistical info about your current swap claims status:
Claims = Claims currently outstanding (ie., how many not yet received by their new owners.) (This number goes down each time a claim is received, and up each time you make a claim.)
Sent = anything currently in the mail.
Received = the cards received by the people you've sent them to.
3. Your location.
4. Your personal preferences.
5. Your list of themes

I claim GenericFabulosaSwapper for heffalumps/weasels ATC.

3 claims, 2 sent, 1 received

I live in Massachusetts, USA.  I would prefer not to receive anything violent, political, or religious.

My themes are:
1)   Spring Flowers
2)   Dancing in the Rain
3)   Naughty Spoons
4)   Inspiring Quotes
5)   Your Favorite Medium

1. Send a personal message to the person you have claimed and request their address.
2. You have 2 weeks to complete each card, and have it in the mail to its new owner.

1. Please PM the organizer when you send or receive a card.  (It's also good to notify the person you received from or are sending to.)
2.  Please include one of these at the title of the message: September ATC Swap--Sent or September ATC Swap--Received (Be sure to include the month, since I generally run multiple months at a time)
3.  Be sure and include (1) the "send by" date, as well as (2) the theme and (3)who sent it to (4)whom, in each message to the ATC swap organizer, when you're referring to sent or received ATCs.  (That's four juicy pieces of important information that make my life as a swap organizer OH so easy!) Easy as pie!

For example, you could use this format:
I sent some ATCs today!

MeCraftsterMemberBloop --> YowzaSwapper (fantasmic theme)

MeCraftsterMemberBloop --> WowwieSwapsper (stupendous theme)
MeCraftsterMemberBloop -->WooHooYeeHawSwapper 07 (yet another fascinating theme)

This lets the organizer easily access the swap info, so it can be updated.

It is OH so important to post pictures of the amazing cards you receive!  This is the best way in the world to let it be known how special it is that you've received a wonderful treasure of someone else's creativity!

Please post pictures/scans of your received cards in the swap gallery (or make arrangements with your partner to do so).

Positive feedback will be given when all of the cards you sent have been received.   Good communication is always cool!  And be sure and post those pictures in the swap gallery!

If you have any questions please post them in the discussion thread or PM the organizer, jillybeans.  This thread is specifically for claims only.

17  CLOTHING / Shoes: Completed Projects / Disney Themed Painted Toddler Shoes on: August 13, 2015 07:36:18 AM
Here are a pair of Disney themed shoes for a mom who's boy is going to Disney for his 2nd birthday.  How exciting!  She didn't have anything specific in mind, so I decided to go crazy and just a bunch of different characters on the shoes.  The shoes were a plain black canvas, toddler-sized, shoe painted with Tulip soft fabric paints and brushes.

And here are some progress pictures:

I'm pretty proud of these.  They took forever and I think the characters turned out awesome for my freehanded skills.  ^_^  Thanks for looking!

20  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Hermoine Doll on: August 12, 2015 07:51:56 PM
Hi there!  So I participated in the One Awesome Harry Potter Thing (OAHPT) - Round 2 Swap.  I was partnered with the awesome elliot_anne and we both have toddlers.  We decided to each make something for the other's girl.  I decided to make her a doll.  I used this wonderful pattern and tutorial to make her:  http://www.makeit-loveit.com/2013/02/girl-boy-fabric-dolls-pattern-pieces-included.html

Her hair is fleece, because I wanted it to be soft and cuddly.  Her face was embroidered.

I sewed on ribbon to give her some Griffindor colors, but sadly I did it a little low and it gets covered up by the skirt.  Oh well!  Her scarf is made of felt strips sewn together.  I love how she turned out.  Baby bean will definitely be getting one for her birthday!  ^_^

Thanks for looking!  Smiley
