37  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Head Girl Badge on: March 01, 2014 09:31:59 AM
Hi there!  My partner, tapestrymlp, in the Terribly Important SOB swap Round 2, hails from the Hufflepuff house.  She is so terribly important, that Hogwarts recognized her by naming her Head Girl.  Huzzah!

The medal is done in wool felt and hand stitched with embroidery floss.  I also hand sewn on some beads to make it fancier.  Then I added some ribbon underneath, the black was a velvet and the gold silk, with some tiny shiny gold ribbon on top.  I added a bit of string to the back so that she could use it as an ornament.

It was all packaged up in a tin I found laying around the house.  I made a little bed inside the tin for her badge to lay and wrapped tissue paper around it all.  A little strapping on the outside made it look oh so official.  I also sent a letter of announcement from Hogwarts along, as well, though I didn't manage to take a picture of that.

Thanks for looking!
38  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Hufflepuff Owl on: March 01, 2014 09:24:14 AM
Hi there!  I made this little fellow for my partner, tapestrymlp, in the Terribly Important SOB swap round 2.  Tapestrymlp is so terribly important that she needs her very own owl to deliver her oh so significant letters, and of course it must be sporting her house colors!  Go Go Hufflepuff!

The little owlie himself was done in Fimo clay and then painted with acrylic paint.  The little scarf is wool felt and sewn together with a sewing machine (which, I found, was rather difficult being that it was so small, but I prevailed nonetheless).  The pedestal he is sitting on is something that I made from random wood pieces that I happened to have, glued together, painted with acrylic paint, and distressed with gold Rub N Buff.  The top of the pedestal is a knob, then a pot, then a wheel, and then fat cylinder. I added sticks around the owl to make it look like a little nest and bits of book pages from the Order of the Phoenix are on the bottom, aged with Tim Holtz inks.

Thanks for looking!
39  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / This Hedgie Presents "The Countess of Craftasticallness" on: February 28, 2014 07:27:36 PM
Hi there!  I made a hedgehog painting for my partner in the Terribly Important SOB round 2 swap.  This little hedgie is holding a sign that proclaims my crafty partner, tapestrymlp's, very important title.  All is done in acrylic paint with a little added crackle glaze on the crown to make it stand out a little more and give it a little dimension.  The canvas is burlap with white over the top, which I found as is at Hobby Lobby.  It is 11x14".

Here are a couple progress shots:

Baby bean was such a great helper!  Wink
