2781  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Re: Tree Plushies! (Picture Heavy!) on: May 30, 2011 08:16:17 AM
My daughter said that the trees and owl on the chair are watching TV!  Grin  I can't wait for my students to see them tomorrow!

I snuggled them up before I left the house.  We all watched Willow together later.  ^_^
2782  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Tree Plushies! (Picture Heavy!) on: May 29, 2011 07:08:33 PM
For the Tree Swap Round 3, my partner, Miss Barbara, had some tree plushies listed on her wist from the Tree Swap Round 1.  So, I decided to give it a go!  I first must say thanks to crafter's Barefootlinzi who originally made these.  I just copied their's.  You can see the originals here:  http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?action=search2;params=YWR2YW5jZWR8J3wwfCJ8dG9waWN8J3wyNzM4ODh8InxzaG93X2NvbXBsZXRlfCd8MXwifGJyZHwnfDg0fCJ8c3ViamVjdF9vbmx5fCd8fCJ8c29ydF9kaXJ8J3xkZXNjfCJ8c29ydHwnfElEX01TR3wifHNlYXJjaHwnfGltZw==;start=30

And on to my version!  WARNING: PICTURE HEAVY!

I did mine (or I should say Miss Barbara's) in fleece.  The leaves are fleece, and the snow is felt, and the buds on spring are pompoms.  I basically just looked at what Barefootlinzi's and freehanded a similar pattern.  They have button eyes and I embroidered on the mouths.  I sewed the body of the tree on the sewing machine and hand sewed on the accessories.

2783  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Shadow Box Button Tree on: May 29, 2011 06:47:56 PM
I'm not sure if this is the place for this, but I couldn't decide where else to put it!  So misc, here we go!

Thanks to crafter's petunya who posted her Gradnma's Buttons Memorial Shadowbox.  It constantly gives me inspiration.

I made a shadowbox button wreath for my mom for Christmas last year and she love it!

This time I took the shadowbox button idea into a new shape.  I created this for my partner Miss Barbara for the Tree Swap Round 3.

My great grandma use to collect buttons and trims off all the clothes that were no longer wearable.  She was born in 1900 and lived through the Great Depression.  She saved everything!  Luckily she did because they have brought me great joy.  Miss Barbara got some love from my great grandma.  This was made from buttons from my great grandma as well as some buttons that I've collected.  It is on a stormy background.

2784  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Bracelets w/ Shrinky Dink charms on: May 29, 2011 06:35:55 PM
So I had fun with shrinky dinks for the first time.  I've always been curious about them and decided to try them out after I couldn't find the bead/charms I wanted for a couple bracelets for a swap.  If you can't find what you want, make it!  The result, surprisingly, turned out pretty good (I think)!

I call this one the clutter bracelet because it has a bunch of random green beads from my collection.  The tree charms are shrinky dinks.  I used a stamp w/ permanent ink and stamped it onto the shrinky dink paper and it turned out famously.

This one is made from saworski crystal beads and the little owls are shrinky dinks and has matching earrings.  They turned out so small, its crazy!  But it took jewelry that wouldn't be considered "tree" themed into something that belonged.  Shrinky dinks are so much fun and I think that I will playing with them more in the future!

Thanks for looking!

I think teasers are tough for the people not receiving the items too. Everything looks so cool and intriguing and I'm dying to see what everything really is Smiley

Agreed!

Teamama, those are some great teasers!  I'm excited to see what your partner gets!
