2781  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Purse charms! Bling it up, baby! (PICTURE HEAVY!) on: April 29, 2011 02:49:03 PM
My sister, mom and I went to a purse party early this year.  They were also selling purse charms and I immediately thought "yeah, I can make those."  Its a good feeling.  ^_^  I made a bunch, most for my sister for her birthday.  She is one of those girls who would actually change them out all the time while mom and I would just stick with the same one.

I call mine purse bling.  ^_^  Now cometh the pictures!

Purse charms are so easy and fun to do!  Its a great way to use up extra beads that you weren't sure what to do with.  You can just throw on random beads.  I had so many of those "I don't know what I'm going to do with you because I only have a couple" beads.  That, and when I was younger I used to go to bead stores and just pick out of each bead that I liked.  What was I going to do with one bead?  Store in my jewelry tote until this moment arrived, I guess.  The last few are hanging on a jewelry tree that I made for my sister to display all her purse bling.  It can be found here!  Thanks for looking!

Clever!  I love the bookmark you attached it to as well!  Quite fitting!  Super cute!

Now that is a great scrapbook idea!  Inspired!!!  I think my husband will be getting one of these in the near future.  Thanks for sharing!  You did an amazing job on it!  I really love the little bottle hanging off!  So cute!

These are AWESOME!  I love llamas (ever since The Emperor's New Groove, one of my favorite movies!).  If I lived where you were I would sooooo buy one of these!  Buttons is my favorite.  <3  I'm so squeeing with joy right now just looking at these loves.  Squee!!!

I figured that's what you meant.  ^_^ I've gotten pretty good at deciphering meaning.  My boss constantly sends me unintelligible texts because her phone likes to auto correct.  Gotta puzzle out her meaning.  Good times.
2786  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Re: Curly ribbon (korker) hair clips on: April 29, 2011 09:40:55 AM
My one niece doesn't seem to like hair assessories and her hair is really short and fine, so I'm not sure the darn things would stay in anyway.

My other niece has really fine short hair as well.  I'm going to alter some kid's headbands to fit her head (she is 6 months old) and then her mom can just clip them onto the headband for now.  This way she can use them now on a headband and then later when she grows enough hair to clip them in.
2787  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Re: Curly Ribbons (korker) on snap clips on: April 29, 2011 09:37:40 AM
Thanks!  ^_^

I love the colors, how did you curl the ribbon?
You get a wooden dowel and wrap the ribbon at an angel as close together as you can and secure with wooden clips.  You then use a squirt bottom to wet them (I then apply a spray on stiffener as well for extra hold) and then bake them in the oven at 225 degrees F for like 20 mins.
2788  Halloween / Halloween Decor and Parties / Pumpkin Photo/Place card holders on: April 28, 2011 06:46:58 PM
Hi there everyone!  A few years ago I posted on myspace (i know, myspace!) a craft that I did.  Mom and I were out shopping and found some cute wooden pumpkin photo holders (it was nearing Halloween).  I wanted them but mom said, "you could make those".  I wasn't about to get into carving, but Fimo I could probably swing.  I don't really have a lot of practice in Fimo work, but it was easy to do.  A gal found what I did and asked me to write a tutorial for them.  I love sharing, so I eagerly did so.

The link for the tute is here: http://www.365halloween.com/pumpkin-picture-holder or here: http://blog.craftzine.com/archive/2007/10/pumpkin_wire_picture_holder.html

Here they are holding up pictures I took in graveyards in Scotland.  SpoooOOooooky!

Later, I got to incorporate there little beauties into my wedding.  I've been married for over a year now.  The wedding was halloween colors (orange & black) with pumpkins.  I call it elegant halloween.  So here is a picture of them in actual use!

There were three head tables and I made a pumpkin placeholder for each setting as part of their wedding favors.  I think I ended up making like 24 total for the wedding. (photo by Lynn Miller - Images of Life)
2789  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Curly Ribbons (korker) on snap clips on: April 28, 2011 06:30:02 PM
More curly ribbons in action!  This time I put them onto snap clips and applied ribbons of similar colors with a jewel.  Wee!

I put them back onto their original packaging.  It looks like I bought them like this. ^_^

Can't wait 'till my niece is old enough to upgrade to the snap clips instead of the alligator clips.

Did you lose a live or dead branch?

I'm pretty sure it was dead.  It was really dried out when we got it.  I'm glad you like it!  ^_^
