2501  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Re: Forfar Bridies with Whiskey Cream Sauce (Say what?!) on: October 06, 2011 03:02:04 PM
Looks very impressive to me & just like the real thing!  Though I should point out that although I live in Scotland, I've never had a Forfar Bridie as I'm veggie!

I think you might like Cornish pasties too as they are similar (though I realise that pasty means something QUITE different the other side of the Atlantic!).

Oooo those pasties look wonderful!  And you are correct, pasties here in the US are something completely different.  But I knew what you were talking about.  lol!

I bet you could still make this without the meat, just up the veggies.

I went to Scotland on vacation and I really didn't sample any of the traditional fare when I was there, well besides haggis at a ceilidh.  ^_^  I apparently had to have it here in the US in a small town on the coast.  If you know Twilight by Stephanie Meyers, Ocean Shores is a few hours South of  Forks, WA where that book takes place and that is where I had the bridie.

Too cute!  I was always curious as to what people made with the bingo cards.  Thanks for sharing!

I would really like the receipe for that Halloween bark though!  I am having a Halloween party and it would be a wonderful addition....

I got the recipe for the halloween bark here:

http://therecipegirl.blogspot.com/2008/10/candy-corn-cookie-bark.html

Its seriously easy to make and soooo good.  I substituted mini reece's pieces for the candy corn since my partner doesn't like them.

Hiya everyone!  I'm Jill, I'm 28 and I live in Washington State.  I'm good with nudity and profanity, but please nothing political or religious.  My favorite things to do are reading (mainly fantasy/sci-fi), cooking/baking, playing video games with my husband, and crafting (duh!).

MY THEMES:
-Harry Potter ABC's (Available Letters: L, O, R, T, V, W, X, Y, Z) (I'd prefer the cards to all be vertical with the letter selected being rather larger on the card)
-Halloween
-Trees
-Wine
-Mythical creatures
-Vikings
-Wings
-Fireworks (my hubby is studying to get his pyrotechnics license)
-Your Location
-Mustaches/beards
-Anything from my book list on pinterest

Here is what I have so far for my Harry Potter ABCs!  Thanks everyone!  (A few of 'em are from the ongoing swap and there is one missing that I haven't received from ragstostitches yet).

YAY YAY!  Look at all the HP goodness!
2507  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: SEPTEMBER 2011 ONGOING ATC SWAP GALLERY on: October 06, 2011 09:21:45 AM
I received some ATCs yesterday from indigo_rose for my Harry Potter ABCs.  We also did a personal swap, since we both are working on the same theme.

She also sent me some alternatives, as well.  ^_^

P is for Pheonix and P is for lots of things!

Q is for Quiddich!

N is for Neville Longbottom and N is for Naked Harry.  The Naked Harry made me giggle!  Too funny!  My husband loooooves Neville, so he was very happy to get that one to our collection.

I'm going to post pictures of my HP ABCs of what I have right now in the Work Your Theme Gallery.  My collection is really coming along!  I'll post a link when I get 'em up.

gozer, for some reason, I couldn't get it to photograph.  I took like 10 pictures and they were all blurry and weird.  I think your picture is better than mine.  ^_^  I'm glad you LOVE it!  hehe
