2371  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Work Your Theme ATC Swap Round 1 (SIGNUP 8/10/11-8/22/11; MAIL BY 9/20/11) on: August 22, 2011 02:42:30 PM
Question!  Where are we posting those claims?  On this thread, or threw PMs?  (Sorry if you mentioned this before, I just need clarification so I can be my best!  ^_^)

For example. One person may have the theme of Harry Potter - A, B, and C.

You must fight for the good Harry Potter letters!  Whomever has the quickest fingers, wins!  lol!

Ooo, I like that hometown one from Mountains and Clouds.  So pretty!  I loved when people would claim my "your location" theme!  It was so fun getting cards about where they lived.  So fun!

Everyone is making such lovely cards this month!!!

Thanks! Well then you did a really good job with lining up on a hunch;)

lol, thanks!  ^_^  You can see through the freezer paper a little, but I just do a little wiggling to try to get it perfect before I iron it.  You can get pretty good control w/ freezer paper.

I am so excited is late tonight yet. hahaha I rolled my ankle really bad this last week. It has been lovely shades of blue and purple and swollen so my mood has been rather cranky. My swaps have really been a source of happiness and distraction lately.

Ouchie!  I hope you are ok!  Lets get this lady some partners!  ^_^

I hope the day goes by fast!  I have a couple extra days off next week, since my boss will be out of town, so I think I will start crafting my ATCs then.  I will spend this week on the drafting board.

Wow,those shirts look amazing! Kudos to you! Grin

I've done some stencils myself with spraypaint, not on fabric though just canvas. Unfortunately freezer paper,as far as I know, isn't for sale in over here in The Netherlands Sad...but I'll think I'm gonna buy some from ebay.
Anyway...I was wondering how you got the layers lined up so well? Do you have a technique for that?
Also what brand of fabric paint do you use?...do you thin it with water or just apply it as it comes straight out of the bottle? Would regular acrylics+textile medium work too (also on the long term)?

Thanks!

I don't really have a method for lining up the layers.  I just try my best!  And besides, if you don't get it exact, its not too big of a deal, because you can always go and clean it up at the end.  Fill in where ever it needs filling in and whatnot.

I use Tulip Soft Fabric Paint.  I don't water it down or anything, I generally just squirt some onto a paper plate and dab it on with a little sponge that you use to put makeup on (those triangle ones for foundation).  I haven't used the acrylics and the textile medium yet, though I do have some that I've been meaning to play around with.

Can I ask a dumb question?  What are "pin up letters?"  They sound super fun and maybe I want to steal, I mean borrow, that idea!  Smiley  It's August 19th!  I'm legal!  I can play now!!!!!  Smiley

I'm pretty sure that redstar is talking about have a pin-up lady (those sultry ladies from the 50s) on a card w/ a letter from her name on it.

You should come play with us!

I found the most awesome book today at Goodwill.  I went there to find a book to destory...uh I mean craft with.  I found the most perfect book!  The Original Illustrated Sherlock Holmes, first edition . . . to play with (my 2 year old niece says this in a creepy whisper that just cracks me up).  It has really cool vintagy pictures on each page.  They are lovely, and perfect for ATCs!  So if anyone is interested in swapping for a Sherlock Holmes ATC, or would like a page to play with, let me know!  I lurves sharing!  ^_^
