1  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Thanksgiving / Leaf Table Runner on: November 16, 2011 07:21:10 PM

I made this table runner for my table on Thanksgiving.  We are having a bunch of friends over.  It's made out of felt reinforced with interfacing and the veins are metallic thread sewn on by machine.  It took a lot of time to cut them all out and sew them, but it was worth it!  I can't wait for Thanksgiving!

Here's a closeup of the leaves:

I put a tutorial on my blog at http://cooksewlove.blogspot.com.  It's pretty long and so I didn't want to share it here too.  Happy Thanksgiving!

Those are adorable!  Way cuter than the ones I made!
3  HOME SWEET HOME / Exterior Decorating / Yard Art / Gardening: Completed Projects / Garden Stakes! on: August 02, 2011 05:10:49 PM
I made my stepmom garden stakes this year for Mother's day.  I also made a set for my garden.

These are the one's in my stepmom's garden:

And these are the ones in mine:

I really like how they turned out and i hope you do too!  I just posted a tutorial on my blog showing how I made them!  http://cooksewlove.blogspot.com/2011/08/garden-stakes-tutorial.html
4  Archive of Past Craftster Challenge Entries / CHALLENGE 64 ENTRIES / Flower Trinket Box on: July 02, 2011 08:28:38 AM

I made this box for a handmade gift exchange.  The flowers are gingham fabric with fusible interfacing on the back to prevent fraying. The stems, bow, and orange stripe are all ribbon.  The lining in the bottom of the lid and box are paper.  Finally, the centers of the flowers are buttons.

When preparing for the gift exchange I knew I wanted to do a mixed media project but I also wanted to use only things I already had.  I'm really happy that I was able to come up with something really cute without spending any money.  I really hope my partner likes it and that you do too!

5  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Spring Coat out of a pair of fleece footie pajamas on: May 10, 2011 08:11:56 PM
This would work great for your girl or boy!  Spring is here in Michigan, but we live out in the country and the Michigan wind is fierce!  I felt bad putting a winter coat on my daughter to go play outside, but she needed more than just a top.  I had these fleece pajamas laying around and so I decided to turn them into a little coat for her to play outside in!

I'd love to hear you feedback and if you want to make your own check out my tutorial on my blog at http://cooksewlove.blogspot.com/2011/05/pajamas-into-coat-tutorial.html
6  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / $98 Anthropologie Replica from a $2 thrift store shirt! on: April 17, 2011 06:01:01 AM

I saw an advertisement in my newspaper for this shirt a few weeks ago.  Being a stay at home mom on a tight budget, this shirt was way out of my range.  I decided i wanted to try a recon of a shirt to make one for myself!  The knit is so much more mom friendly.  If my kids get something on it I can just throw it into the wash instead of having to get it dry cleaned.

It only took me about 2 hours to make, and that was while I was figuring out how to put it together.  If you want to make it yourself should probably take about an hour.  The tutorial is here: http://cooksewlove.blogspot.com/2011/04/wrap-around-blouse.html.

I'd love to hear your comments and ideas on it!  If you make one be sure to let me know how it went!  I hope my directions are clear enough for others to have the success I did!
7  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Easy Overalls for baby! on: April 10, 2011 07:26:21 PM

I just made these great little overalls for my daughter!  I used an old sheet from the thrift store as the fabric and paid 1.99 for the pattern.  My biggest tip: Never pay full price for a pattern!

If you want to make a pair for your little one the pattern I used was: Butterick 5625  and I got it at my local national chain fabric store. (I don't know if its ok for me to say the name)

8  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Easter / Felt Flower Easter Basket on: April 08, 2011 10:49:51 AM

I wanted to make my kids their own easter baskets this year and so this is what I came up with!  I love working with felt because its so easy.  I also wanted to make it a No Sew project.

If anyone has any tips for doing the handle a better way, I would love them!

Thanks!

I never would have believed they were popsicle sticks if you hadn't said it!  These are great!  Good luck in the competition

So you can see the sides better:

When I saw this challenge I immediately wanted to do something that reminded me of a picket fence.  I love making new centerpieces for our family table and I love that this one doubles as a dessert tray!  Please don't judge me on my cookie baking/decorating abilities.  That's definitely not something that comes naturally to me.
