1  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Re: No clue what it is, but its wood! on: April 27, 2011 04:14:28 PM
It's a mancala game board.
2  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Alice in Wonderland Card Guard Fascinator on: April 26, 2011 06:52:33 AM
To continue with my fixation with Alice in Wonderland, I decided to honor the Card Guard.
I only made one of these for now, and decided to do a heart, rather than the other suits.

Pictured on a wig on a stuffed animal, since I can most definitely not pull it off. lol

3  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Suggestions please on: April 26, 2011 01:00:10 AM
So I had a piece of mirror that was just laying around.  So I decided to sculpt some sculpey around the edge.  I decided to go for an Alice in Wonderland theme, and came up with the caterpillar smoking the hookah.

Sorry for the picture quality I took it on my phone.

Technically right now it could be complete.  But I wanted to somewhow include his famous phrase of "Who are you?" into/onto it.  I had originally thought along the existing smoke rim along the top, but then started thinking about maybe frosting it onto the mirror surface.  And then I became apathetic.

So I am looking to you guys for suggestions/encouragement.  Materials don't matter, so suggest whatever you want.

And yes I know that he kind of resembles the "Me Gusta" meme... lol
4  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / 70's Chess (Pic Obese [4 out of 5 crafters agree]) on: April 05, 2011 11:21:40 PM
Boredom seems to be the inspiration for all of my random craft projects.  That and happenstance.  Like stumbling upon a box of wooden knobs and odds and ends.  So what did I do with these treasures?  Why I made myself a groovy chess set.

Here is a picture with all the pieces on the board.

Here you can see that the board was painted as a psychedelic mushroom.

First up are the pawns, made to look like lava lamps.

Then the rooks/castles, shaped like mushrooms.

Then there are the knights, representing the sex symbols.

Then there are the bishops, nothing special about them...

Then there are the queens who look like vessels.

Which contrasted well with the chalices that represent the kings.

I had a fun time making this, although painting the actual spaces on the board was a pain.
5  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / Duck Hunt Pins on: April 02, 2011 08:59:28 PM
I was bored today, and decided to mess around with some oven bake clay I had.  I thought that I should do something with the many blank pins that I have lying around.  So I picked one of the nerdiest things I could think of, and decided upon Duck Hunt.

First I crafted the blue duck, and then the black one.  I decided since both ducks are flying to make the dog the version the one where he is laughing at your failure to shoot the ducks.

Awesome right???  You almost want to punch the dog in the face.

This is both delicious and genius.  You should submit the best picture of it, or a combination picture of it to My Food Looks Funny: http://noms.icanhascheezburger.com
7  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Re: The amazing feejee mermaid... FROM BORNEO! (with tutorial) on: April 02, 2011 08:56:37 PM
This is perfect, and I can picture it in any sideshow.  The process pictures really helped in understanding how you got it from the humble beginnings to the finished product.
8  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Re: Shrinky Dink Mario Chess Set on: April 02, 2011 08:52:22 PM
Is it hard to keep track of which piece is which type?  Might I suggest that if you take another go at making these you leave an extra bit onto the bottom of each piece, and make 32 bases in which to slot them so that they stand up.
9  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Re: Steampunk Goggles on: April 02, 2011 08:40:56 PM
These would make a fantastic addition to any steampunk outfit.  Do you know the exact name of the plumbing pieces, what I assume are the frames?
10  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Re: Glowing Iron Man Arc Reactor on: April 02, 2011 08:31:55 PM
Please, please, please post some more pictures!!!!! this is amazing.  How exactly are you going to affix it to your chest?  And is the glow strong enough to be seen through a white shirt during the day?
