11  White Cheetah Grandmother Dress in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by Marienka on: March 25, 2013 12:15:37 PM
This past weekend my Grandmother called me up frantically and was worried about not having a semiformal dress for her upcoming trip. So Super Granddaughter to the rescue!

I drafted up a design, she picked out the fabric and in one day I had this creation for her:

(The mannequin is too small for the dress, she fills it out more than the dress form does, it also hits her at tea length)

12  Assassin's Creed Cross Stitch in Needlework: Completed Projects by Marienka on: March 20, 2013 08:18:56 PM
This is a cross stitch I did for my boyfriend awhile ago. I just forgot to post it.

The symbol is actually metallic silver, it just doesn't photograph well.

I made the pattern myself from the original logo.

the first 'A' kind of got a little botched up but it gives it character, right?

13  The Chair From Hell in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by Marienka on: March 20, 2013 06:44:51 PM
I recently moved into a new apartment. Unfortunately, unlike my old apartment, this one had no furnishings. So pretty much I scraped together old furniture from my family to create this big ugly mess of mixmatched furniture. Which included three couches, a tv stand, a couple sidetables, a coffee table, a few dressers and that was about it. Which meant that I was without a dining room table. I ate with Japanese style for about three months with my very understanding boyfriend until my mother and I spotted a house sale. Surprisingly, it was a child hood friend that was moving. None the less the moral of this story is that I got a seven piece dining room set for 20 dollars.

The chairs and tables are really sturdy and the wood is excellent on them. The down side was the fact that the chairs had been reupholstered. No problem right? Just take off the old upholstery and put new fabric. WRONG! There were no less than seven new layers of upholstery on these chairs. It started with red pleather and included, animal print, yellow cotton, denim print cotton, actual denim and so many more layers. Let me tell you! They were stapled on very very well.

Anyroad!  Here are the before pictures

and the after pictures (its actually a very sublet tan and brown pattern):

and finally, together:

It might not be that impressive of a reconstruction but if you were there for the before and the process of taking the seven layers of staples out, you would be very sympathetic

14  Aqua Formal/Prom Gown (slightly picture chunky) in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by Marienka on: March 17, 2012 09:45:26 AM
This year I was asked to make a gown for prom. I started with a simplicity pattern and modified it quite a lot. Shes very busty and skinny with wide hips so according to simplicity her body type does not exist. Anywho... don't get me started on pattern companies. Ill let the pictures speak for themselves. I really loved how it turned out. I also made the tie that her date was wearing.

p.s. you can see the boning of her under-corset in the pictures but not in person. Stupid camera does weird things to people's bodies and fabrics.

^^in this picture you can see my house ghost

15  Nautical Dress (img heavy) in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by Marienka on: September 06, 2011 11:26:41 PM
I found this wonderful nautical anchor material in the 80% clearance stash at Joann's so there was no way I could pass it up. My friend had been bugging me to make her a dress forever and I knew this was exactly her style. It was made without a pattern for those looking for it.

I took these pictures before the dress was ironed. It needs to be done severely. Pictures with her sporting it will be on next week.

17  Black Light Simple White Dress in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by Marienka on: April 17, 2011 12:00:07 PM
Last night I attended blacklight event. I forgot to take action photos of myself all dressed up and haired up and makeuped but i have a picture from the morning after. There is a small amount of green black light paint on it as well as broken glow sticks.

i wanted a really simple dress I could make in an hour before the event as well as cheap because I knew it would get ruined. And this is the product of that!

(p.s. forgot to iron it)

18  One Shoulder Floral Dress (video tutorial included) in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by Marienka on: April 13, 2011 07:23:51 PM
I made this dress last Sunday out of some old knit like fabric. It has a border pattern along the bottom that I just found beautiful. It ended up being super easy to make.

A video tutorial on how to make this entire dress is provided below as well. I would love to see what comes from this if anyone makes it! Enjoy. C&C greatly appreciated.

3 1/2 YD. of solid black suiting cotton type
2 1/3 YD. of blue striped plaid (pictured)
approx 1 YD of solid medium colored purple cotton
