
No worries every one of us at the beginning was "lost" with pattern, but when you learn very few tips it is easy.
I found a lot of useful tutorial around the internet and usually prefer the ones with images, I'm sure also on craftster you can find something useful but I do not know where, so, for what I can help you:
FO= finish off you use at the end of the work pulling the yarn through the last chain on the hook and you can then cut the yarn
ss= slip stitch this is the lowest stitch in crocheting
Dcfp= double crochet front post
sk= skip
