3  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Slouch hat on: January 05, 2013 04:39:24 AM
I haven't posted here for some time but any way here's a hat I knitted a few weeks ago. I used a pattern by Coco knits. Free pattern here: http://cocoknits.com/downloads/free-patterns/cocoknits_SimpleSlouchyHat.pdf

I used 2 balls of purple Big Softie yarn, and only cast on 60 as most hats seem to fall off my tiny head!

4  COOKING / Dessert / Re: Rubbery Texture on: July 22, 2012 03:21:33 PM
Aah yeh that maybe it thinking of it - I decided to use my hand mixer as it was out when I usually just mix with a spoon. Thanks for that  Smiley
5  COOKING / Dessert / Rubbery Texture [in cupcakes] on: July 22, 2012 02:16:11 AM
I made some cupcakes yesterday, some that I have made before many times. But this time they came out with kind of a dense rubbery texture rather than the usual light fluffiness. This also happened about a year ago when I made a chocolate cake. I followed both recipes exactly, but the recipe isn't to blame as I have made both cakes many times before with no problem.

Does any one happen to have an explanation for this?

Many thanks,

Mash x
6  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: Trousers to skirt on: March 02, 2012 03:08:01 PM
Very nice!!! Looks like a nice work skirt and am very impressed that you did not need to add the extra triangle. I've needed to add that on all my jeans to skirt recons.
7  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Lace Skirt on: March 01, 2012 07:58:37 AM
So I've been seeing a few of these mini lace skirts around in the shops and evertime I think I could so easily make this myself. So I did!

Wasn't completely from scratch as I used a 4 H&M skirt as a base - and then sewed the lace to it. But you could easily make that base by cutting the top part off a t-shirt.

I'm also quite lazy so I didn't put a zipper in . I just made the skirt somewhat stretchy by stretching the jersey skirt as I was sewing the lace on so the lace was ruffled.

The tutorial is on my blog: http://tashymakesstuff.blogspot.com/2012/02/lace-mini-skirt-tutorial.html

Any way here is the result:

8  COOKING / Dessert / Re: Red Velvet cupcakes on: February 26, 2012 11:07:08 AM
Aah I see - the silly recipe I used only said a 15ml - I'll remember that next time!
9  COOKING / Dessert / Red Velvet cupcakes on: February 26, 2012 05:30:14 AM
So here is my first attempt at Red Velvet Cupcakes, and second attempt at cupcakes altogether (first one went horribly wrong!). Its a Nigella Lawson recipe and I found an adaptation here: http://www2.readersdigest.ca/food/blog/2010/11/09/nigella-lawsons-red-velvet-cupcakes/

Unfortunetely they didn't have the right type of food colouring in my local shop so they ended kind of brown, but hey-ho it's the taste that counts and they came out rather delicious!

And of course the cat did feel the need to help!
