471  CLOTHING / Costumes: Completed Projects / Re: Ryuk Costume on: September 17, 2012 06:40:12 PM
I was sure I would have nightmares tonight about the last Dr. Who I watched(Cybermen, brrrrr), but now there's.......this. I am Traumatized. Thank you, I will enjoy the free movie in my head tonight. I always appreciate a "clown warning" on a post, what would this be? A "scary toothy yellow eyed thing that you don't want to accidentally see warning"? lol

 Shocked <-----me, scared

"It's kinda like a survival kit, except it is more about fixing things then surviving zombies."

I believe in the event of an apocalypse, a "survival tin" such as this would be as important to one's survival as the emergency kind. I am positive it is creativity and personal expression that enhances survival. Your kit is awesome, and gives me some great ideas!

476  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Surpise Halloween ATC swap 2012 -CLOSED TO SIGN UPS on: September 15, 2012 06:47:54 AM
In addition to the greeting card idea, which really does work well, I have found that putting the words "please hand cancel" on it or taking it directly into the post office and asking for it to be postmarked by hand helps to keep it from getting mangled.
477  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Knitted fence cozy. Yes. Not mine. on: September 13, 2012 05:42:50 AM
Thanks Taramor! I gotta be me, lol. Seriously, this is still the only yarn bomb I've ever seen in the wild. I had heard of "seed bombs" where people completely load a ball of mulch with flower seeds and lob them over fences or into vacant lots. In my mind, a perfect world would be grafitti-ed, yarn and seed bombed, lol. Grin

This is how innovation and progress should always work. It's the perfect combination of not focusing on how much money can be made, by working together, and thinking way outside the box. You are a kind spirit, and I hope this small amount of praise and acknowledgment you are getting from the wonderful Craftster community is enough to save your place in the history of invention. This has really been a great morning story to start my day, in contrast to the "news" which pretty much horrifies me every day. Good luck to both of you in your endeavors! The world needs examples like yourself and Mr. Van As.
479  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: Reconstructed TV Cabinet on: September 11, 2012 05:31:37 AM
Yeah, we did the same thing for a couple of reasons:

a. My husband didn't want to haul the thing out of the den.

b. We saw how much a new fangled one made for flat screens would cost.

c. My husband wanted the reclaimed wood for something.

I like this idea a lot, almost as much as the pattern where people use the old entertainment center and repurpose it as a kids toy kitchen. I am hoping to make one for my niece. I still see the discarded entertainment centers out on the curb, someday I will grab one!
