1  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Mario Question Blocks on: December 26, 2009 10:58:57 AM
My Mario-loving boyfriend is getting a new car, and in celebration I thought I'd make him something for it. I came up with little question blocks to hang over his rear-view mirror.

I just threaded some clear elastic cording through a small hole in the top side of the cube and stitched it in place to make them hang.

Two sides have question marks, and two have brick-looking patterns. I think they came out pretty cute!

3  CLOTHING / Costumes: Completed Projects / Renaissance Faire Fun on: June 11, 2008 04:31:02 PM
Nothing terribly historically accurate, but it was a ton of fun dressing up and taking pictures!

Everybody together, the only clothing I didn't make is Bryttanye's (far left) skirt, and my (second from the right) shirt. Everything else was sewn more or less in the week and a half before the faire! Drafting that kilt was an interesting experience.

A better detail shot of the girls! All of Bryttanye's is hand drafted, my bodice is loosely based off of Simplicity 3677, and Lauren's is Simplicity 3812. My cape is heaaaavy, it's two layers of fairly heavy cut-pile cotton, the frog I had on it originally snapped from the weight, so I replaced it with a big gaudy brooch for fun :3

And the back of my dress, just cause it's pretty.

wait whats egl? sorry i havent been here that long.

Elegant Gothic Lolita...yeah, I didn't know either. Apparently there's an entire subculture building in Japan around this, and I guess its stretching globally.

EGL is actually a brand name. It's a clothing company started by Mana from the band Malice Mizer in Japan. The name has come to encompass all gothic lolita clothing, though. I wouldn't have known that if I didn't just attend a Japanese fashion panel.

EGL isn't the brand name, it's a term coined by Mana. His brand is Moi-meme-moitie.

If I hadn't missed your post I would have backed you up! They're not lolita in the strictest sense, but they're still really cute and the right shape, so they're lolita enough for me Cheesy

I love it...

*Can totally see all Jap Lolita brands with Dino-Lolita out next season!*

Haha...that would be a great new lolita style!  There could be headresses with dino spikes or something.  Greatness.

Thanks! Haha I pondered a bonnet with spikes down it, but it just seemed too ridiculous.

DO IT!!!

You totally just invented dino-loli!!!

I think...my favorite style has gone from Guro to DINO!!!!!!!!!

*glomp*

Haha I would've, but I thought about it and I was going to a nice tea party and everything, it just seemed a little too costumey and over the top. I'd love to do some more dinosaur themed things though!
