1  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Discussion and Questions / Spinning problem...solution? on: October 21, 2005 05:58:37 AM
I am a beginner at spinning and have read all the recommened books and this board before hand, and thought I knew what to expect. The actual spinning went ok, but after the roving was spun and I was winding it into a skein the yarn kept twisting back on itself until it was a big curly, twisty blob. My thought was obviously I'd put too much twist in it, so I rigged up a system to unspin it a little, but now it has barely any twist and came apart at some of the joins. I read in one of my books something about not worrying about curlies when you are setting the twist, but that doesn't seem right, and I'm not sure they were talking about the amount of curls I had. I hope I described the problem coherently. Does anyone know what is going on with my yarn? Is there a way for me to fix it? What can I do differently in the future? Please help! Huh
2  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Please help me with Frogging!!! on: March 09, 2005 08:46:36 PM
I'm new here to craftster and was hoping someone could help me frog a sweater. It is a great cashmere sweater, but I'd rather recycle the yarn from it for another project. I started at the bottom and quickly ended up at a side seam. I've read through some other threads and they say to start at the bottom. Is it even possible to frog the whole sweater?? Please help!!
