bethimusprime The plates are lovely. How did you make the headbands?

Thanks! I followed this guide for making the headband: http://www.makeit-loveit.com/2011/06/repurposing-tshirts-into-5-strand-braided-headbands.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+MakeItAndLoveIt+%28Make+It+and+Love+It%29

Basically, just do a 5-strain braid of a cut up t-shirt and sew the ends together. My biggest tip would be to tape the end to something while you braid or ask someone to hold it for you so you can keep tension! I kept trying to braid without that, and I had all kinds of problems at the start. I finally ended up bugging my husband into holding one end while I braided the rest Smiley

I received today from dontneedaclassroom! She has kindly provided me with the required materials for the Night Vale Psychological Association Dream Journal Initiative.

.

As you can tell, several of the pages have been whited out for my use. Now I only need to wait until Poetry Week so that all writing utensils, thesauruses, and public descriptions of the moon are un-banned.

Thanks a lot dontneedaclassroom! I really enjoy it Smiley

What did you use to write on the plates, bethimus? You said they claimed to be dishwasher safe - does that mean they're food safe also?

Oh! Sorry I didn't mention that as well. Yes, I just double checked and they are AP Certified Non-Toxic and Xylene free. I used the Sharpie Oil Based Paint Pens (http://www.amazon.com/Sharpie-Oil-Based-Markers-Fashion-1770459/dp/B003VQ9M04/) and baked them for about 45 minutes, so the ink should have been re-glazed into the ceramics (which helps make them dishwasher safe too).

I'm glad you enjoyed it though! Did you find the Library Card I made for you too? I put it with the note because I was afraid of it falling out or getting lost somewhere.

Haha I feel kinda bad now for sending so early!! If I didn't have so much stuff to do this week, I would probably be scrambling at the end like I usually do. I forced myself to finish before I did anything else! I just hope my partner likes it! (swap anxiety is VERY real! Or is that fear of the Night Vale City Council?)

I've pretty much spent all weekend in an intense crafting session :O But I think that I'm done? Kinda questionable because I'm still waiting on one thing to dry. If it works like I'm hoping, then I should be able to ship out soonish! If not, then at least I still have a couple more days Smiley

Special thanks is going out to KBrison (my mother) for agreeing to serve as my editor which saves me some time.

Hold up now. What the heck are you making that you need an editor?! Now I'm curious! Obv you have to show me before you mail out! (To those that don't know, Zalphinian is my sister  Grin)

I'm designing one of my projects right now that I hope I will be able to complete soonish. Just need to get the materials together before I can finalize that. I still keep bouncing ideas around for my second craft. I'm hoping to at least be able to start on it this weekend.

I am just so pleased you liked everything - I could have kept crafting for you, we had so many fandoms in common.

And thank you for the gorgeous Jensen Ackles - did we even discuss Supernatural? And I know I never told you I love Jensen the most!!

I feel really bad now, because I have not managed to get photos up yet and I received before you. I will try my best to get them up this evening.

haha I feel the same way! Seriously it's a little spooky how many fandoms we share.

And no, we never did talk about Supernatural! I keep trying to talk my husband into driving over to Lawrence, Kansas (where the Bunker is supposed to be located) since it's about 4 hours away but he keeps telling me I'm being silly. Plus, the boys keep going to Tulsa, so every time I try my whole "We should go to Lawrence and look for the bunker" routine, we just go to Tulsa instead XD

And don't worry about pics! That always seems to be one of the harder parts of the whole swap. Which is why I try to force myself to wait to even open the package until I know I'll have the chance to post pics too. I think I lasted 4 whole hours after I got your package before I just couldn't take the suspense anymore Smiley

I received my package from seuudee last night and let me tell you, she makes me feel incredibly inadequate with her amazing crafting skills.

First, she and I had traded some of our favorite quotes from books for craft ideas. And obviously, since I liked one of them, she sent me the book!!

I can't wait to read it! (It's Glass Houses by Rachel Caine, since you can't tell at all in this pic). And what's better than a new book, oh right. A Nightwing/Batman bookmarker! NIGHTWING. You guys realize how hard it is to find Nightwing stuff?? I love it! If you flip it over, the other side is Batman too. It's the most perfect thing ever.

Then she made me the most adorable little Captain America bag

I know you can't tell in this pic because it's so dark, but the stitching on this thing is absolutely perfect! It's also fantastic timing because I've been looking for a Captain America bag to use for my "inconspicuous cosplay" of Capt stuff.

So while I absolute loved those items and it would have been enough to satisfy me alone, she took it to one more step.

Why yes, that is a Sailor Moon apron. The entire thing is so amazing I'm honestly afraid to put it on, let alone cook with it! I put it on last night and wouldn't take it off until it was time to go to bed. My husband kept teasing me the entire time! Pretty sure my reaction to him was something like "Don't care, it's SAILOR MOON." And obviously I had to sing the theme song at LEAST once while wearing it. It was a requirement.

So seuudee, I just have to say this:

Oh - I was wearing my night vale beanie to Free Comic Book Day, and Dean Rankine who does the Simpsons comics drew my head in a jar... with my beanie!

Nice!! but wait - today is free comic book day?! Guess who has to go pick up her comic books now.... (my shop is 2 hours away...)

Also - I honestly don't think I have a favorite quote. Unless maybe I can count just the simple "And now the weather" with the music notes

Sorry, I have been stuck in the vortex known as work for the past few days. I have only managed an escape due to an unplanned break in the schedule. I am unsure which of you fellow crafters I have to thank for this unexpected relief. Or perhaps it was the Sheriff's Secret Police that managed to sweep away all of my problems. Will we ever know?
