woohoo!  craft_t_chic got my craft!  This is my second-ever journal; I'm so delighted that I finally learned to do this - and I don't understand why I thought it was so hard, as it's really easy!!  I am obsessed with mini journals lately, so it's great to finally be able to make them.

33  Re: * NEW RULES~Sweat Shoppe swap= sampler swap-SIGN UPS 4/2- 4/12 send out 4/30 in ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED by Writer78 on: April 09, 2006 12:36:17 PM
I've signed up - I'll be making small drawstring treasure pouches.  I cut all the pieces out in a fit of inspiration; just need to find some time to crank out the sewing.

Here are some examples of past pouches I've made.  The ones I'm making for this swap will be on the large end of coin purse size.

I got a sweet package yesterday - three pretty ponytail holders:

Thanks, Elizabeth from Texas!  I've got your thank you note ready - I just need to find a little something to tuck inside Wink and it will be out in tomorrow's mail!  (I'm sorry, but I'm not sure what your screenname is - your name seems familiar, so if we've crossed paths before and I should know your screenname, please forgive my forgetfulness!)

I just got my mail after being away at a sales meeting this week.  The *lovely* princessblueberry - who has always taken extra good care of me - made me a mini journal!!  *squeals with delight*

I can't get enough of mini journals, and blueberry has a real flair for decoupage.  For example, the ballet dancer on the front is a fairy because blueberry thought to add wings - and the wings themselves are text from a book in Spanish.  Being a very literal/linear-minded chick, I would never think of a creative detail like that, and that's why I love blueberry's approach!  She always surprises me!  (Also, the Scrabble letter H near the bottom is expanded into the word "hope" - which I find comforting and inspiring.)

My two b-day gift recipients have each sent me thank you notes.  I sent one thank you, and now I owe one to the princess.  That catches me up.  THANK YOU for making the birth-month fun for those of us with March b-days!

Soon I will take pics of the binder pages from gerbil and post them.  (Sorry so late!)

Below are pics of the goods I sent to quincy134 for her WEdnesday golden birthday.  She asked for a clutch:

This was the first time I'd sewn a clutch, and I was so relieved to pull it off!  Inside, I added a barrette:

quincy is into historical mysteries, so I figured this Victorian-themed barrette might suit her tastes.

Again, gerbil, I'm sorry for the delay on pics of what you made - I will get them taken and posted by this weekend!

mjadams chose my request for an elegant, updated wordless bracelet - a bracelet with colors that tell the story of Jesus.  Not only did she knock it out of the park, but she included extras that spoiled me rotten!

Isn't it gorgeous?  All "blingy."  It was beautifully giftwrapped, and several other fun things were included: a CD of a Christian band, a roll of ribbon printed with the Christian fish symbol, two little cameos to which she added magnetic "pins" on the back (so that I can wear them as pins or display them on my file cabinet as magnets):

THANK YOU, mjadams, for treating me like a princess!!  God bless!!

39  Re: Altoid Tin Themed Swap Gallery in The Swap Gallery by Writer78 on: February 23, 2006 05:57:42 PM
Okay, I managed all right with the digital cam, so here are my pics of what goatgoddess sent!  She chose my theme of "creative writing."

The tin is covered in brown and black fimo, with a shrinky-dink of my coat of arms (!) which I think she found through a bit of clever Craftster-stalking!  I gasped really loud when I saw it - I just love that she took the time to find/incorporate my design!  A key and dragonfly round out the cover.

The inside cover has a lovely shot of a statue - looks sort of like an angel image - and another dragonfly.  The inside and the bottom are covered in black felt.

And the goodies...!

The whole package was wrapped in Peanuts paper towels, including one of Snoopy writing his book.  In the left hand corner - sorry my pic is so dark - is a little accordian book with dragonflies on the front.  Inside are a number of inspirational quotes about writing.  Beneath that is a magnet that says "A writer paints with words."  The three marble magnet at the bottom have pictures of fancy pens/journals/books inside them.  Next is another shrinky-dink of my coat of arms, this time a magnet.  To the right is a bookmark with flowy, feathery tassels.  And at the bottom is a dollhouse-size bottle of glitter, corked and tied with shiny stuff, with an "I" (for inspiration) on the side.  (Unless there is an alternate meaning to this, that is!  I'm guessing that's what it stands for!)  Anyway, it's actually my favorite little trinket of the bunch!

THANK YOU, goatgoddess!  And may the darn USPS finally spit out the package I sent you last Saturday!!!

I sent Knottiedotty a birthday/Valentines package.  I sent her a card for each event, and I made her two crafts.  For her birthday:

She's crazy for maps, so I've been saving this fabric for a chance to craft for her!  The black and white trim along the bottom was handwoven by our own onthinice.  I added a little embroidered "trail" and "x marks the spot" to each side of the pouch.  KD told me she loved it!

For v-day, I made her these earrings:

They were originally a pair of buttons that cracked me up.  I used a button shank remover tool to chop off the shanks on the back, and then I used E6000 to attach earring posts.  KD said she liked animals and also that "weird=good," so I thought these would strike her as funny.  Hope they did!
