Awesome!  My first bag wasn't even half as good looking.  Nice job!
12  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Discussion and Questions / Re: pinking shears..where to buy? on: December 24, 2006 06:03:52 AM
I bought mine on ebay, and they are great. I think it turned out to be less than $10 with shipping, and these are a big, heavy pair of pinking shears.  Maybe if you can use one of the 40% off coupons at Joann....

Good luck.
13  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Baby Showers And Gifts For New Babies / Swedish Fabric Scrap Baby Shower Invitations - on: August 27, 2006 01:55:22 PM
I'm planning a surprise baby shower for my sister who lives in Sweden. Over there, there really isn't anything comparable to a baby shower, and many people have no idea what it is.

I made the invitations myself by printing out the umbrella handle and tip on card stock, along with the wording. Then, I went through my huge stash of fabric scraps, and cut out little umbrellas that I attached by sewing them to the card stock.

For the other side, I first made a background out of scrapbook paper with a baby shower theme, and I printed out the specifics on a smaller piece of white paper, that I then glued to the scrapbook paper background. This also covers the back side of the stitched umbrellas. I made the title - baby shower - look as though it had been pulled from a dictionary (I included pronounciation, and part of speech) and then defined exactly what a baby shower is..

I put each invitation in a vellum envelope and mailed them out.. It was fun, and wasn't too much trouble. Here are some pictures.

I also love the fabric.  I have a skirt with a similar print, and it is my favorite.  Nice job.

I like it!  The fringe-y part on the front is nice.

I like it!  Where did you get the handles?  Are they leather or vinyl?

The lining and the exterior fabric go well together. Nice job.

The bag is awesome, and the pictures crack me up. (Love the action shot!). I like the pleats, and think I'm going to have to incorporate that into my next bag... Nice job.

I like it.  I made one of these too, but used the same fabric, just in different colors for the exterior and the lining.
