1  peyote skull bracelet in Beads: Completed Projects by calixita on: July 28, 2015 11:10:15 AM
I made this for my teenage niece.  For when she's feeling a bit "goth".

2  Re: 13 Days of Halloween 2015! in New Swap Theme Ideas by calixita on: June 12, 2015 08:11:19 AM
If I remember correctly, there weren't enough crafters interested in joining the last time a full 13 Days of Halloween swap was suggested.  I will almost definitely join a mini Halloween swap if it gets posted.  I tell myself that I don't "need" any more Halloween stuff but I never listen to myself anyway!   Grin  I actually just made myself a Halloween tree.

I was finally inspired to use some of the cardboard tubes I have been hoarding.

I found a package waiting for me when I got home from work last night (I work evenings so it was quite late).  Kayrun sent me such a wonderful box of goodies!!!
This is the fantastic hoop she made for my hoopla wall!!

It's so beautifully done!!  Who doesn't love The Princess Bride!?  (I'll be honest, I wouldn't quite trust the person who doesn't.)   Grin
Then she spoiled me with extras!!!
a fabulous and sweet knitted mushroom for my mantel!!

I love the red and grey color combination!  The corner of my mantel is now filled with gorgeous fungi!!  It makes my smile to see it!!
And she also made a pretty toy for my cat!

He loves it!

Thank you so much, Kayrun!!  Your beautiful and thoughtful gifts have helped me stretch my birthday out far more than I deserve.   Cheesy  I love it all!!!

I love those pretty slippers that Alwaysinmyroom made!!

I found a lovely package in my mailbox this afternoon from kbrison!  It got here so fast!  My package to you won't get there until next week.   Undecided
First a very pretty card!

A huge ziplock bag of papers and ephemera and ink pads!

lots of embossed, textured and metallic scraps, shapes and pretty colors!  I'm going to pull out my art journal this weekend and have some fun.
And the sweetest wallet!!

I love the colors!!  It has plenty of space for cards, cash, change and all those little slips of paper that I can't afford to lose without being unwieldy.  Just the right size!!
Thank you so much, kbrison!!!  I'm having such a wonderful birthday month!!!

I had a long fun day yesterday and came home to package sitting in front of my door.  Inside was an amazing array of pure spoilage from alwaysinmyroom!!!  She said she was making me some lovely boot cuffs and here they are in all their cabled glory!
She also made me a sweet mug warmer and included cocoa and tea!  YUM!!!!

Then I opened this amazing fabric mushroom sculpture!!

I tried to get creative with the backgrounds to show it off best but I didn't have much time (darn you, Spring forward time change!)
She also made a pretty card and included some cool ephemera!

I had cocoa with my new mug warmer, wore my new boot cuffs to work today and I can't wait to get home tonight to gaze upon my gorgeous mushrooms!!!  I am almost speechless when I think about my amazing goodies and your generosity, alwaysinmyroom!!!!!!!!  Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!!!!!!!!  Celebrating my birthday early has never felt so good!!!!!

So glad you liked your birthday package.  I had serious problems trying to post photos from my iPhone when my computer went down.  It's frustrating, isn't it!
Here are photos I took of the bracelets before sendout.

The 4 hoops are so sweet!  Lindyv321 does such delicate work!  I think the fox is my favorite.

8  day of the dead skull cut out in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General by calixita on: February 27, 2015 11:00:55 PM
this is a Day of the Dead themed artwork that I made for the recent Box of Color swap.  I cut out a decorated skull with roses, backed it with purple tissue paper and added some fabric leaves.

I chose a page from an old spanish novel the cut the images out of but it was very brittle.  In the future, I will probably choose newer paper to avoid obvious mistakes.

9  Re: Peacock Colored Kumihimo Bracelet in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by calixita on: February 17, 2015 10:15:11 PM
I love the colors of my new bracelet!!
I tried to take better pictures today but as we had more snow than sun, they still didn't turn out so good.  This one sort of shows off the colors.

My new sun catcher is in my kitchen window doing its best to brighten the world, my bunny is adorning a book shelf (my comic and graphic novel section!) and I worn my new peacock necklace to work tonight and received lots of compliments!!
Thank you again for my wonderful box of color!

Outside is blanketed in white but I received my beautiful package of color today!!!!  Thank goodness the mailman made it before the streets and sidewalks become treacherous yet again.   Cheesy
It's after dark so the pictures could be better (and I may replace them tomorrow) but I wanted to post.

First off was a beautiful hand cut card!  A mini work of art!

Then my eye was caught by a sweet and lovely embroidered hoop.
It's a beautiful sentiment and one that I am taking to heart right now.  It's easy for me and my fellow Bostonians to get extremely cranky after this 3rd massive blizzard.  We need to be nice to one another, now more than ever!
Lindyv spoiled me with jewelry!
2 beautiful necklaces - so lovely and sparkly!

colorful memory wire bracelets!  (the blue one has beautiful peacock beads that didn't come into focus in the photo!)

and my favorite (for the moment)

The colors are really speaking to me right now!
A precious stuffed purple bunny!!

a selection of beads in gorgeous peacock and jewel toned colors!

cute stickers and a jeweled mirrored compact!

And underneath it all,  a wonderful long sleeved shirt with just amazing embroidered leaves!  (still wrinkled from being boxed up)

a close up of the embroidery:

You talk of my work with small beads?  Each individual component of your embroidery is just as tiny, perhaps more so!!  I remain in awe of such work!
Thank you so very much for my wonderful box of colorful loveliness!!!!
