This project contains three pins from Pinterest in one. First the flower pots (http://www.inlieuofpreschool.com/rainbow-pour-painting-flower-pots/, then the coffee filter lining(http://www.thisoldhouse.com/toh/photos/0,,20241198_20545225,00.html and the lemon seed planting(http://greengardenblog.com/2013/01/03/from-lemon-seeds/.

These were the pots I used:



This is how you start. Grab some paint you can spare/waste and dump it on the flower pots.



Then take however many different paints and dump them on there as well. (Be careful, it's super fun, so I wasted a bunch of paint) Try not to cover the lower paint completely,  and maybe leave some of the pot untouched as well.



There you go. Now let it dry (forever, because I used way too much paint). Notice all the wasted paint on the bottom of the pan? I used that to create the paper "art" for a Spring wreath. I just couldn't let all that paint go to waste, especially cause it's looking pretty cool down there.



I skipped a step here. The pot needed to be covered with clear laquer, because I used water soluble paint. If I didn't the paint would dissolve once I watered the plants inside.

Now for the planting. I prepared the lemon seeds a while ago and put the in the pot covering them with an inch of soil.
So messy! That's what happens, when you feel like springtime, all planting and stuff, and it's snowing outside. (This was end of march!)



Here's the coffee filter sitting in the pot before putting the soil in, so the soil doesn't come through the hole on the bottom. So practical.



And they're done. Took long enough.. all the painting and drying. They took place on our window sill in the bedroom.

So I was actually planning to go to a Christmas market thingy for homemade goods to sell some of my crafts, but I got freaked out by lots of stress at work that I wouldn't be able to make enough stuff to sell. So now I'm planning to visit one of Munich's night-fleamarkets, which are filled with the hipster target group I'm looking for. Of course I'll be selling fleamarket goods as well, so I don't have the pressure to produce enough merchandise.

So these LEGO pieces I'm using I actually found in a box next to the dumpster on the street, score! But seriously, who throws away perfectly good LEGO pieces? That stuff's expensive!
It wasn't quite enough for my man to build his giant battleship, so I decided to turn them into necklaces.

First of all drill a hole in 'em:



Then I added some screw-hooks I got online a while back.



The chain and heartshaped lock were also bought online, the ring is from Michaels in the US.



And there you have a cute LEGO necklace. Every hipster and wannabe needs one, don't you agree?



I also made some necklaces from old dia frames, which I got in a box of 200 for free at a fleamarket.



And here's a couple of other one's I made. I found the ice cream, burger, fries thingies at a thrift store, maybe they're supposed to be toy foods, dunno.



So, yeah, I dunno if this sells, but I'll definitely find out. I've been wearing a LEGO and dia necklace myself and have been complimented on it, so that's a good sign I guess.

My Fiancè works at a Kindergarten, so he's got a bit of creative blood running through his veins as well. Bute when he thought of this I was actually pretty impressed.

Halloween is recently being celebrated in Germany, sadly not in the time when I was growing up, but oh well. So he was preparing Halloween decorations with his kids and created these cute bats:



Step one: put finger paint on tiny kids hands



Step two: make the kids put down their hands on the paper and make sure they don't move their hands



Step three: Paint a tail, legs, eyes and mouth



And tadaaa, you got a silly ol' bat flying around like it's supper time.

Oops, I did it again; I bought another kitchen buffet. Same store, even better price. I was bargaining so bad, it was almost embarrassing. After mentioning my birthday coming up, I got the super special deal of 40€. Without transport though, and I got a week to figure out how to get it home. Good thing I have awesome colleagues and one of them was nice enough to lend me her husband and car. There were some fearful occasions where we thought it was too big for the car, but it fit perfectly and got home to me safely.

Here's the beauty before its transformation:

But all in all, in  very good shape. I love old furniture. It's so sturdy and non-swedish
But of course there had to be a make-over. I bought the color before I had even bought the buffet. It's called crimson red. Lovely colour for a lovely piece of furniture. At first I was thinking about painting the whole thing and then splashing the "skeleton" with black. You know, just dipping the paintbrush into the color and throwing it at something. Looks amazing on our kitchen wall, but I wasn't sure about a piece of furniture. The splashes made me think of Dexter (amazing show bout a likable serial killer), which made me think of The Walking Dead (amazing comic and then show about the zombie apocalypse). After throwing around a few ideas in my head, mostly stencil-related, I knew what I wanted to do.
But see for yourself:

Love the glass drawers on one side of the top cabinet, sadly one is missing.



The other side of the top cabinet was tiled. That's where they kept the bread back in the day.

And now for the interesting bit. The doors were all supposed to be covered with comic strips from the "The Walking Dead" comics. Therefore, I searched the internet for comics and came out with a ton. Thus giving me enough choice to cover each door with its own personal storyline. The paper was cut into comicstrips containing one to three panels. They're glued to the wood with wallpaper paste. I mixed more wallpaper paste with the water than it said on the box, just to be sure it would stick.

All done! Took me about 3 days to finish all of them, since I did it after work each day.



I coated the doors 3 times with clear lacquer, the backs of the doors were painted with the crimson red and sadly I did this after applying the comics. You can tell in some areas..

But yeah, here's the finished product:



I got the Morticia chair at the same thrift store, just couldn't resist. Maybe I'll make a Morticia doll someday.. and the little Origami bat was a present from an old friend of mine.

So I already know the British make some good television. After watching The Office, Spaced, Black Book, Extras, The Mighty Boosh etc. I now got to see the great Sherlock Holmes redo Sherlock. Martin Freeman as Watson caught my eye mostly, I hadn't heard of Benedict Cumberbatch so far, but he sure is a brilliant Sherlock!
I'm actually glad I'm a little behind on this great show cause this way I got to see season one and two without a nervewracking break.
Anyone who hasn't seen this show yet (or any of the above mentioned) I greatly recommend it!

And one scene of this brilliant series inspired me to try my luck with stenciling on fabric. I had bought fabric paint awhile ago, but never got to use it until now.
My first stencil was made from cardboard, but the letters were a little hard to cut out.



So I tried to connect the letters, so that it was a piece stencil. Not the best looking outcome.



But good enough for the door mat! You can kinda tell what the letter in the boxes are saying, but only in the flashlight... The message is clear, anyways. The door is locked!



Next try with an adhesive foil. That looks much better! We'll try that on a t-shirt then!



I mixed blue and red fabric paint with silver acrylic paint. I hope it'll still stay in place after washing. The important part is to iron it before wearing it for the first time.



I think this turned out very nice! Nice and shiny.

I decided to get some curtains for the kitchen, cause at night when the light is on you can look inside. Especially cause there's a tram station right outside the house and people walk by all the time.

I got the curtains from a second hand store. And the idea of filing the curtains came from here: http://www.atelier-v.ch/umdenken/sites/22.html.

Since I work in an office and we just threw out a bunch of old ringbinders (and I hate throwing away stuff that's still usable) this was my new project:



I needed 4 ringbinder clips to attach to one window. Sprayed them white first.



Then pink.



I cut out some cardboard and painted it pink to glue to the back of the clip for a better grip on the window, since I couldn't really screw it on.



And then clip clip clip clip... filed curtains!

I work in an office and we regurlarly throw out ringbinders that are a little bit older.



My question now is how could I reuse these in a crafty way besides pimping them and turning then into craft/cooking/scrapbook binders?

Dear fellow Craftsters,

my first big project post here:

When I first saw this kitchen buffet at our local thrift store I instantly fell in love with it. And my boyfriend instantly hated it!
It took a couple of weeks and several visits to that thrift store for me to ask if they would lower the price on it. The price tag said 99€ and it's been at the store for a while now.
So they were willing to sell it to me for 50€ plus 20€ transportation (cause in Germany no one my age owns a car, especially in the city).
So that was two weeks ago, they dropped it off and mentioned that one foot fell off, so they would reduce the costs to 50€ total.. deal!

This is what the bottom part looked like after screwing off the first door to see how the paint would turn out.

Also very weird symbols on the back of the top part. Anyone recognize those?



Here you can see my lovely boyfriend scraping away the paint, actually only roughening it up so that the new paint would stay on.
He still hated the thing, but I had promised him that when we would be done he'd love it



And here he is painting the skeleton of the cupboard. We chose grey for the skeleton of the cupboard and a light purple (indian rose) for the doors, well, I chose it ...



It's almost finished! We still needed doorknobs and space in the kitchen to put it in place.



Notice the Alien gift paper wrap on the top shelf!



Got the doorknobs at a hardware store and moved our ikea cupboards to the basement and here it is!



Took two weeks total and altogether costs about 100€.

I love it and my boyfriend likes it now...
