1  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / adding a zipper to a tote on: March 09, 2007 10:32:05 AM
hey everyone, i have a plain old flimsy tote bag that i love and would like to use as a purse, but i want to line it with something to reinforce it and add a zipper.  i'm really not sure how to go about this, and i've never sewn in a zipper before.  any tips, tricks or ideas?  thanks a lot!

i'm terrible at it, but i've heard that's it's better to move your nail, not the brush when doing the white line.

i am so glad i consulted the board, your responses are fantastic!  so far, my tentative plan is to make yummy food items and yummy body scrubs.  i'm also liking the idea of etching glass, as that could be a ittle more guy-friendly than a body scrub...of course men need to exfoliate too, but will they?  not so sure.  anyway if you think of any more post 'em up and i will too, i think this thread has turned into a great resource for everyone Smiley

hey everyone, i love these tattoo threads!  they keep me from my work big time, but hey.  i'm getting "to thine own self be true" on my upper back at the end of the month in script with swirly embellishments, but i'm curious...are there any places online you can go to look at different tattoo scripts?  i mean obviously you could get any font done, but i'm looking for the kinds of script that are more detailed and embellished.  i'm pretty sure of the kind i want from looking at the shop, but i figured it couldn't hurt to look at others too.  so if anyone can direct me somewhere, please speak up!

you need to be careful with extreme bleaching...not only is it possible to have severe breakage, but if you try to go that platinum your hair can actually melt off in a horrifying, gummy way.  i speak from experience.  they were only highlights thank god, but still...patience pays.
9  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Any ideas for "Handmade production line gifts"? on: November 10, 2006 09:29:34 AM
i hope a similar question hasn't already been asked but if it was, kindly indulge me...does anyone have ideas for gifts that you can make a lot of and then give out that are kind of universal?  for example, last year i made coffee-scented candles in coffee mugs, alcohol-theme scented candles in shotglasses and soaps in different crazy molds and gave those out.  oh, and inexpensive is the name of the game - i'm saving up for cosmetology school and it is not cheap, so every penny counts right now.  i can sew, knit and am generally crafty, so any ideas would be great!  thank you!
