1  Re: The Amazing Hoodie Swap R12 Gallery! in The Swap Gallery by CptnDenim on: October 27, 2011 03:29:42 PM
IsikkahJai received her hoodie today and asked for me to post pics, so here they are! (She'll try and post action shots later. Excuse the unmade bed.)

The Back

The Front

The Hood

The Closeup

This was hand embroidery, needle felting, and hand applique. I had a lot of fun making this, and learned how to needle felt!

2  Hat- cables, short rows, bloody stupid johnson! in Knitting: Completed Projects by CptnDenim on: October 26, 2011 11:19:08 AM
The hat!

I got the pattern from knitty, here
 http://knitty.com/ISSUEwinter07/PATTbsjohnson.html

But I was afraid of picking up stitches (but not cables or short rows... I'm a strange one) So I made the  brim and the top of the hat separately, then joined them together with the sideways knit cables.

I liked not having to pick up 100 or so stitches, but I think the top of the hat is less stretch because of it. It wasn't a bad experiment, and the receiver loved it, so its a success. I think I'd do it differently next time though.

C&C, thoughts, and suggestions always welcome,

CptnDenim

3  Re: Sewists/Yarnies vs Papercrafters Rnd 2 Gallery in ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED by CptnDenim on: May 05, 2011 10:29:29 PM
So..... Pictures!

SimplyFabulous! managed to craft for me without a wist - knowing only that I love elephants, lace, and jewel tones. and purple is my favorite. and she did a fantastic  job! I love everything she sent me. here we go!

you can't really tell from the pic, but its an adorable wooden box that was decorated just for me. I've already put some of my treasures in it

my favorite from the cards is probably the plaid elephant. I don't know why, but a plaid elephant tickles my fancy.

There are a lot of 3D elements to the frame, don't know that you can tell from the pic. The butterflies are just darling! I'm probably going to put a pic of my family in there.

a travel theme journal! the cool newsprint that's on the binding is also on the inside covers, and there are more cute designs on the back of it, but didn't take any pics of it yet. This will definitely be my next journal.
