11  FIBER ARTS / Felting: Completed Projects / Happy Cat Brooch on: January 10, 2016 01:36:23 PM

A friend of mine is putting together a polymer clay class with the cutest cat brooches - that inspired me to make this one. I haven't achieved her level of "cuteness" yet, but for my first one I'm also a happy cat!!! =^..^=
12  FIBER ARTS / Felting: Completed Projects / 4th pattern Dog Brooch on: November 27, 2015 07:02:03 AM

I keep wondering if I should put some french knots on his forehead too.
Slightly different construction method than the first brooches. Wearing him now to see how he holds up to being loved by my cats and dogs! Wink =^..^=
13  FIBER ARTS / Felting: Completed Projects / 3rd pattern Dog Brooch on: November 25, 2015 11:37:24 AM

Zebra Dog with jingle bell feet!!

Slightly different construction method making use of both needle and wet felting. Looking for ease of construction and increased durability.

Have two more dogs (not this pattern) drying. They'll probably be finished tomorrow.
14  FIBER ARTS / Felting: Completed Projects / New pattern Dog brooch on: November 15, 2015 03:22:23 PM

Made a bunch of sketches yesterday evening for dog brooches - this is one of the new ones. Since I have all this fiber out one my work table I decided to use what was there and took the coloring for this one roughly based upon one of the dragons in How to Train your Dragon.
This one is mostly needle felted except for the feet. I did make and wet felt a fabric to use on this or one of the other new designs. =^..^=
15  FIBER ARTS / Felting: Completed Projects / Dog Brooch - wet & needle felted on: November 11, 2015 06:22:21 AM

Doing some experimenting this week - made the "fabric" and then wet felted it and the fiber balls for the feet before putting this altogether. I plan on trying an alternate method for creating the fabric and I want to also try this in different colors to see how that works. =^..^=
16  FIBER ARTS / Felting: Completed Projects / Sew What - wet felted bracelet on: October 14, 2015 12:19:03 PM

Working on some ideas and trying different things. =^..^=
17  FIBER ARTS / Felting: Completed Projects / Gnome Witch on: September 26, 2015 07:08:29 AM

Redid some details on this one - made her taller - most of my gnomes tend to have a rather compact stature, but I decided that she needed to be a bit taller.
Added more rings to her fingers and the french knot roses to her dress. If I wasn't busy with other things, I probably would have done more embroidery on her dress.

She's on a shelf in my craft room next to my Father Christmas figure. =^..^=
18  FIBER ARTS / Felting: Completed Projects / Raccoon on: August 08, 2015 12:17:35 PM

Not actually something new - I've just been looking through some of the images of creatures I made that sat on my husband's desk. Most of them have been tucked away for safe keeping. I think I may open the box and let the creatures sit on my desk for a while! =^..^=
19  FIBER ARTS / Felting: Completed Projects / Fiber Mokume Gane - bracelet on: July 07, 2015 10:17:10 AM

Third in a series of experiments I've been working on over the weekend. Still need to do some more experiments to refine the technique and improve control of results (as much as the concept allows). Rather fun to do, but it takes so long waiting for the bracelets to dry! =^..^=
20  FIBER ARTS / Felting: Completed Projects / Wet Felted Bead Necklace on: June 24, 2015 08:56:35 AM

Another wet felted bead experiment - working to put this together as a class. I did a lot of prototype experimentation a while back (some of those experiments were posted here on the forums). Still a bunch of work to be done, but I like this necklace!

Still wish I had access to a lot more interesting beads - there's only Michael's and JoAnn's around here for beads. Selection is okay, but not great. I've bought some beads online, but sometimes it is hard to tell what a bead will really be like until you see it in person.
