1  FIBER ARTS / Felting: Completed Projects / Wet Felted Birdhouses on: May 27, 2015 12:49:45 PM

Continuing to teach myself wet felting so did some resist felting and made these birdhouses! Pretty neat project all in all. I do have one hung out in the garden and it is holding up to the weather pretty well. Haven't hung up the other examples that I made as I think they would probably be best hung under the eaves and that would require the ladder etc. etc.
2  FIBER ARTS / Felting: Completed Projects / Wet felted purse on: May 01, 2015 11:22:37 AM

I'm teaching myself wet felting.

This was resist felted and is all one piece. The felt is inconsistent in thickness which is entirely my own fault. I was anxious to try the idea about the shape of the resist and the final product so I really was not being careful. I also made this on a smaller scale - might be large enough for a child. One thing I learned from doing it a smaller size is that some specific felting I would have liked to do became impossible. I basically was trying to save on the amount of fiber I needed while doing an experiment that I had no idea would even work. I also worked on a smaller scale because I don't really have a place where I can work with large pieces of wet felting. I did manage to expand my work area today so I will sometime set out to make another purse maybe even of a useable size! =^..^=
3  FIBER ARTS / Felting: Completed Projects / Greenman Brooch on: March 26, 2015 08:41:27 AM

He's a combination of needle and wet felting. I've been doing quite a few greenman experiments lately. This is my favorite. =^..^=
4  FIBER ARTS / Felting: Completed Projects / Trapeze Mouse on: March 13, 2015 09:02:48 AM

Was doing some technique experiments and then put them to use making this little guy!  Cheesy Cheesy =^..^=
5  FIBER ARTS / Felting: Completed Projects / Literary Mouse on: March 09, 2015 11:21:11 AM

Lately I've been doing sketches loosely based upon the Redwall illustrations by Christopher Denise. This mouse is loosely based upon one of my sketches. =^..^=
6  FIBER ARTS / Felting: Completed Projects / Lady from the Woods - ball-jointed needle felted doll on: February 19, 2015 09:16:44 AM

I've been wanting to try making a ball-jointed needle felted doll for some time. Finally did!  Cheesy Cheesy =^..^=
7  FIBER ARTS / Felting: Completed Projects / Another Bunny on: February 15, 2015 10:50:04 AM

Different color for the fur which I like. I used a different color for the iris which I think helps to bring out the eyes better. Armature limited to only the forelegs which makes it easier to work on the whole piece. Will probably do another experiment and focus on adding more details to the paws and such.

Bitterly cold here today. My craftroom is probably about 52 degrees.
8  FIBER ARTS / Felting: Completed Projects / Bunny on: February 13, 2015 03:18:33 PM

I've been really busy and not able to keep up around here. Hope I will have a little more time. Currently in the middle of working on some possible class ideas. For this piece I used a partial armature - larger than I like to use - well, I'm not fond of armatures unless they cannot be avoided. Tomorrow I hope to do another bunny and limit the armature to just the forelegs and see how that fares.

I think this guy is about 6" tall, but I never did measure him. Was just happy that I managed to finish him today although my eyes are not happy that I was working that long! Wink
9  FIBER ARTS / Felting: Completed Projects / Wet Felted Bead experiments on: December 27, 2014 09:53:17 AM
I'm supposed to be clearing off my craft table for a totally different project, but got involved in doing these instead

The last one pictured was the first one I made. The multi-strand necklace I just finished this morning. Has been very interesting work!! I hope to follow up and do some more experiments after I finish up the next project on my list (when I manage to get my craft table cleared off!!).

Already made the wet felted beads for a mossy green version of the multi-strand necklace - just have to find beads that match. I so wish there was a good bead store near by!!
10  FIBER ARTS / Felting: Completed Projects / Lucky - Cat Portrait on: December 14, 2014 11:49:47 AM

Portrait of a cat that lives in Spain. He was rescued by some very wonderful people. He does have a bald spot and scar on the right side of his face - he's a lucky cat indeed!!

He's about 8.5" tall. Took a long time to get him done, but I'm pleased!! =^..^=
