251  FIBER ARTS / Felting: Completed Projects / Re: Zoomorphic Celtic Knot Bracelet on: January 23, 2014 02:27:56 PM
Thanks Ken!!!  Cheesy Cheesy =^..^=

I ended up having to replace the turquoise nugget beads I had used for the loop/button clasp as they didn't make for a secure clasp. I used some white heishi beads that worked much better!!

Another bracelet inspired by Celtic Knot work!!

I get my needles from here:

I don't believe they have a 36star - they do have a 38star which is one of my favorites.

I like the fact that the barbs are always positioned close to the point (which isn't true on all needles). Over the years I have purchased needles from a variety of sources and found that there is a great variety in the quality of needles and placement of barbs.

Star needles have the advantage of having four edges per blade. That's 8 barbs on a star needle as compared to 6 barbs on triangular needles. (but not all needles have 2 barbs per edge)

Belladune - how do you hold your needles?? The further away from the point that you hold your needles increases the possibility that you will break needles.

I've been told that the hedgehog has been named Hazel!! (and spent her first day out in the world riding the back of tanks in a 40K match)

I should find out today what my son's friend thought of it. My son took it off with him yesterday when he and all his friends meet up.

My son's friend asked me to make a hedgehog for him to give to his girlfriend for Christmas.

I think she will be pleased!! =^..^=

I did, out of curiousity, go looking for "hedgehog mohair" since that fabric really does a great job of looking like hedgehog spines, but it is next to impossible to find in the States. Some day I will get some and do a more realistic hedgehog and see how that turns out.
